For Amira al mussawi, art has never been just a hobby, it has always been a way of life. From childhood, she expressed herself through drawing and crafts, later experimenting with sewing and falling in love with fashion design. To this day, she enjoys styling and creating her own unique look. Her decision to study graphic design became a natural extension of her creativity, allowing her to express herself in multiple forms.

Amira’s artistic journey has already gained recognition. She won first place in the inaugural Arab StarPack Packaging Design Competition in 2017 and has been an active participant in the UAE International Poster Festival from its first edition in 2017 through its sixth in 2024.

For her, art ties together every aspect of her life , whether in design, fashion, or personal style. Her ultimate dream is to become an art teacher, sharing her passion with the next generation.

A Journey Shaped by Creativity

Even as a child, Amira never limited her imagination. She recalls transforming simple coloring books by adding fabric scraps and glitter, turning them into something alive and unique. This playful experimentation evolved into a lifelong philosophy: art has no boundaries. Even in her personal style, she reinvents her clothes, seeing creativity as an open space for constant exploration.

Challenges and Support

Unlike many, Amira does not view her path as one filled with major challenges as an Emirati woman. She believes the UAE has instilled confidence in its women, providing them with every opportunity to innovate and prove themselves. While personal and professional obstacles exist, she feels that the continuous support for women in her country gave her the strength to advance confidently in her artistic journey.

Defining Achievement

For Amira, achievement is not a single award or moment but an ongoing process of growth. “Every day that I learn something new, gain experience, or expand my perspective, I consider it an achievement,” she explains. She believes true success lies in the accumulation of small steps that shape a person over time.

Women Then and Now

Reflecting on generational change, Amira draws inspiration from her mother, who loved designing and sewing but had few platforms to showcase her work. Today, the landscape has transformed, Emirati women enjoy platforms, visibility, and recognition that allow them to share their creativity with the world.

Inspired by the Mother of the Nation

Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation,” is a guiding light for Amira. She admires the initiatives that empowered Emirati women through institutions like the General Women’s Union and handicraft centers, giving them space to contribute and innovate. For Amira personally, Sheikha Fatima’s vision is a constant reminder that women can inspire and shape future generations.

A Message to Young Women

Amira’s advice to the next generation is simple yet powerful: “Believe in yourself and don’t be afraid to try. Mistakes are natural, they are what shape us and prepare us for success. Every small step matters, and over time, it becomes the foundation for bigger achievements.”

Celebrating 50 Years of Women’s Empowerment

This year’s slogan, “Hand in Hand, We Celebrate the 50th,” holds deep meaning for Amira. She sees it as a tribute to the legacy of Emirati women from grandmothers and mothers who paved the way, to today’s generation carrying their vision forward. To her, this celebration is not only about the past but also about the responsibility to continue building on that foundation for the future.

تؤمن أميرة عالم أن الفن ليس مجرد هواية، بل أسلوب حياة يتغلغل في تفاصيلها اليومية ويشكّل هويتها. فمنذ طفولتها عبّرت عن ذاتها بالرسم والأشغال اليدوية، قبل أن تنتقل إلى الخياطة والتصميم لتكتشف شغفها بعالم الأزياء. واليوم تجد في تصميم الجرافيك مساحة أوسع لابتكار صور وأفكار تعبّر عن إبداعها المتجدد.

البدايات

في ذكرياتها، لم تكن كتب التلوين المدرسية مجرد أوراق عابرة، بل كانت مشروعًا مفتوحًا للتجريب؛ تضيف إليها قصاصات القماش واللمعان، فتتحول إلى لوحات نابضة بالحياة. منذ ذلك الحين أدركت أن الفن بالنسبة لها بلا حدود، بل هو رحلة مستمرة من التجربة والاكتشاف.

إنجازات مبكرة

سطّرت أميرة اسمها في الساحة الفنية مبكرًا عندما فازت بالمركز الأول في المسابقة العربية لتصميم العبوات عام ٢٠١٧. كما واصلت حضورها المتجدد في مهرجان الإمارات الدولي للملصقات منذ دورته الأولى عام ٢٠١٧ وحتى دورته السادسة عام ٢٠٢٤. لم تكن تلك الإنجازات مجرد محطات، بل شواهد على مسيرة طموحة قادتها إلى فضاءات أوسع.

التحديات والدعم

لا ترى أميرة أن كونها امرأة إماراتية شكّل عائقًا في مسيرتها، بل على العكس، فقد منحتها دولة الإمارات الثقة والفرص لتثبت نفسها. ومع أن التحديات الشخصية والمهنية أمر طبيعي في أي تجربة إنسانية، فإن الدعم المجتمعي والوطني المستمر للمرأة الإماراتية كان رافعتها الأساسية نحو التقدّم.

معنى الإنجاز

تؤكد أميرة أن الإنجاز ليس جائزة أو لقبًا يُعلَّق على الجدار، بل هو القدرة على النمو والتطور بشكل يومي. فكل تجربة جديدة وكل خطوة صغيرة جزء من لوحة إنجازها الكبرى، التي لا تكتمل إلا بالاستمرار في التعلم والاكتشاف.

المرأة الإماراتية اليوم

تقارن أميرة بين جيلها وجيل الأمهات؛ حيث كانت والدتها عاشقة للتصميم والخياطة لكنها لم تملك المنصات لعرض أعمالها. أما اليوم فقد تغيّر كل شيء، إذ أصبحت المرأة الإماراتية تمتلك الفضاء والوسائل لتُظهر موهبتها وتشارك إبداعاتها مع الآخرين، وهو ما تعتبره أميرة نقلة تاريخية صنعت الفارق.

القدوة والإلهام

تجد أميرة مصدر إلهامها الدائم في سمو الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك “أم الإمارات”، التي تراها رمزًا للرؤية والرحمة والقوة، وقائدة غيّرت واقع المرأة في التعليم والعمل والتمثيل الوطني. وتؤمن أن القيادة الحقيقية يمكن أن تكون في الوقت نفسه جريئة وحنونة، وأن التمكين يعني قبل كل شيء خلق الفرص للآخرين.

رسالتها

توجّه أميرة رسالتها إلى الشابات الإماراتيات بقولها:
«آمنّ بأنفسكن ولا تخشين التجربة. لا تقللن من قيمة أي خطوة صغيرة، فهي أساس الإنجازات الكبرى. الطموح يستحق الثقة، وأنتن قادرات على ترك بصمتكن في كل مجال».

خمسون عامًا من العطاء

وترى أميرة أن شعار «يدًا بيد نحتفل بخمسين عامًا» يعكس مسيرة النساء من الأمهات والجدات وحتى الجيل الحالي، مسيرة بدأت ببذور صغيرة وتحولت اليوم إلى شجرة مثمرة من الإنجازات التي يفخر بها الجميع.
