Behind the counter of a pharmacy, dispensing medications and counseling patients, Fatma Al Ghfeli found her first calling: service. But what began as a profession soon evolved into a mission, one rooted in leadership, innovation, and empowerment. Today, she stands as one of the most inspiring Emirati women shaping healthcare leadership and community engagement.

“I am a proud Emirati woman who believes in leadership, innovation, and community service,” she reflects. “My love for my nation and my desire to empower women fuel my journey. Meeting His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed as a front-line hero was a turning point, it deepened my commitment to serve my country and its people.”

From Pharmacy to Leadership

Her early years as a pharmacist were marked by compassion and patient care. Yet, she realized that systemic change required leadership. Pursuing a Master’s degree in Leadership and Organizational Development gave her the tools to transform systems, inspire others, and expand her impact beyond the pharmacy.

Breaking Barriers

As an Emirati woman, she encountered cultural expectations, gender stereotypes, and the challenge of establishing herself in leadership roles. Overcoming them demanded resilience and self-belief. “The support of my family, mentors, and the Emirati Women’s Chapter under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima was vital. It allowed me to grow, connect, and advocate for empowerment,” she says.

Achievements That Matter

Fatma’s proudest milestones include leading the pharmacy department at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, where her work improved patient experience and healthcare quality. She has also served as a judge in youth science competitions, encouraging innovation in the younger generation. Awards from Life Corner Management and Pure Health, along with recognition for public health campaigns, highlight her leadership. And meeting HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed as a front-line hero remains, for her, an honor beyond measure.

Women at the Forefront

She sees the trajectory of Emirati women as extraordinary: “We are leaders, scientists, entrepreneurs, and policymakers. Compared to previous generations, today’s Emirati women are more empowered, confident, and involved in decision-making. This is the fruit of visionary leadership and women’s own determination.”

For Fatma, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak is a source of strength and guidance: “She is a symbol of compassion and empowerment. Her initiatives created countless opportunities for Emirati women like me. Her legacy inspires me to serve as a role model and changemaker.”

بدأت الغفلي حياتها العملية في مجال الصيدلة، حيث كانت تشرح للمرضى عن أدويتهم وتوجّههم نحو وعي صحي أفضل. إلا أن نقطة التحول كانت حين أدركت أن القيادة هي الأداة الأوسع لإحداث أثر مستدام. فاختارت أن تواصل دراستها في القيادة وتطوير المنظمات، لتصوغ مساراً جديداً قادها إلى أدوار مؤثرة في الإدارة الصحية والخطاب العام والعمل المجتمعي

إنجازات بحجم وطن

من أبرز إنجازاتها قيادتها لقسم الصيدلة في مدينة الشيخ شخبوط الطبية، حيث ساهمت في رفع مستوى تجربة المرضى وجودة الخدمة. كما شاركت كعضو لجنة تحكيم في مسابقات علمية شبابية، وحصلت على جوائز في القيادة من شركة ذا لايف كورنر بيور هيلث. أما تكريمها كإحدى بطلات خط الدفاع الأول، فكان وساماً يغرس في قلبها إيماناً مضاعفاً بالرسالة الوطنية
