Muna AlShehhi embodies the spirit of a new Emirati generation, one that seeks to channel science and technology into national progress. At just sixteen, she is already recognized for her passion for entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation. Since joining high school in Grade 9, she has represented the UAE at the International Economics Olympiad, earned second place in ExxonMobil’s Product Pitch Program, and gained practical experience through initiatives with Mubadala and Etihad Rail. She also represented her country in the global PISA assessment and developed a Sandstorm Detector as part of the Sheikh Hamdan Future Science Program. Beyond academics, she has contributed more than one hundred hours of community service. Today, her focus is on researching an artificial intelligence solution for real estate, blending curiosity with impact-driven ambition.

Her journey began at the age of nine with a simple hobby: video editing. What started as creativity soon evolved into a deeper passion for technology and entrepreneurship. She pursued advanced courses such as AP Physics C and AP Computer Science Principles, earned certifications in Python programming and Cybersecurity, and studied Chinese for over two years. These experiences gave her both technical expertise and global perspective, sharpening her interest in applying technology to real-world challenges such as her current AI project in real estate.

Despite her achievements, age has been her greatest challenge. At sixteen, her ambitions often draw skepticism. Yet she has learned to let her work speak for her, turning doubt into motivation. Each challenge, she believes, has accelerated her growth and strengthened her focus.

For AlShehhi, achievements are not isolated milestones but a continuous journey. From the International Economics Olympiad to ExxonMobil’s program, from PISA to the Sheikh Hamdan initiative, and through more than two hundred hours of volunteering, she has built a foundation of discipline, adaptability, and service. These experiences have not only boosted her confidence but also reinforced her belief that greater goals are within reach.

She views the transformation of Emirati women’s roles as profound. Where earlier generations largely focused on family responsibilities, today women lead in business, government, and especially technology and innovation. This shift, she affirms, reflects the UAE’s vision of women as equal partners in progress.

H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation,” holds a special place in her journey. “To me, Sheikha Fatima represents vision and possibility. She laid the foundation that allows Emirati women to dream without limits and lead with confidence. The opportunities we enjoy today are the result of decades of dedication, and it is our responsibility to turn them into impact.”

Her message to young Emirati women is equally clear: “The UAE will always support our dreams and provide extraordinary opportunities. We must be grateful, but also ambitious enough to follow our goals with discipline and courage. Every opportunity we take strengthens our future and that of generations to come.”

Reflecting on this year’s theme, “Together, We Celebrate the 50,” she sees it as both gratitude and responsibility. In just half a century, the UAE has achieved remarkable progress, creating global opportunities for its youth. Growing up in such an environment is a privilege, she believes, but also a responsibility to ensure that the next fifty years are marked by innovation, leadership, and a continued global role for Emirati women.

منى الشحي: جيل إماراتي يصنع المستقبل بالعلم والابتكار

تمثل منى الشحي نموذجاً ملهماً لجيل إماراتي شاب يتطلع إلى استثمار العلم والتكنولوجيا في خدمة وطنه. وهي طالبة في السادسة عشرة من عمرها، شغوفة بريادة الأعمال والتقنية والابتكار، استطاعت منذ سنواتها المبكرة أن تثبت حضورها في المحافل الوطنية والدولية. منذ التحاقها بالمدرسة في الصف التاسع، مثلت دولة الإمارات في الأولمبياد الدولي للاقتصاد، وحصدت المركز الثاني في برنامج “إكسون موبيل” لعرض المنتجات، كما شاركت في مبادرات متقدمة مع “مبادلة” و”الاتحاد للقطارات”. وإلى جانب ذلك، مثلت الدولة في اختبارات “بيزا” العالمية، وطورت جهازاً لكشف العواصف الرملية ضمن برنامج الشيخ حمدان للعلوم المستقبلية. وعلى الصعيد المجتمعي، أنجزت أكثر من مئة ساعة من العمل التطوعي. أما اليوم، فهي تبحث في تطوير حل تقني بالذكاء الاصطناعي يخدم قطاع العقارات، جامعـةً بين فضولها العلمي ورغبتها في صناعة أثر ملموس

بدأ شغفها بالتقنية منذ التاسعة من عمرها عندما مارست هواية تحرير الفيديوهات، وهو ما فتح أمامها أبواب الإبداع. تحول هذا الفضول إلى اهتمام أكبر بعالم التكنولوجيا وريادة الأعمال، فدرست مواد متقدمة مثل الفيزياء التطبيقية وعلوم الحاسوب، وحصلت على شهادات تخصصية في البرمجة بلغة بايثون والأمن السيبراني، فضلاً عن دراستها اللغة الصينية لأكثر من عامين. هذه التجارب منحتها أدوات علمية ورؤى جديدة عززت توجهها إلى توظيف التكنولوجيا لحل التحديات الواقعية، ومنها مشروعها الحالي في الذكاء الاصطناعي العقاري

وعلى الرغم من كونها فتاة في السادسة عشرة، فإن صغر سنها كان التحدي الأكبر الذي واجهته، إذ كثيراً ما كان يثير الشكوك حول جدية طموحاتها. إلا أنها آثرت أن تجعل إنجازاتها تتحدث عنها، فكل تحدٍ واجهته منحها دافعاً للنمو السريع والتركيز الأعمق

أما إنجازاتها، فهي ترى أنها ليست محطة واحدة، بل مسيرة متكاملة بنتها عبر المشاركة في أولمبياد الاقتصاد، وبرنامج “إكسون موبيل”، واختبارات “بيزا”، وبرنامج الشيخ حمدان، إضافة إلى مئتي ساعة من العمل التطوعي. جميعها منحتها دروساً في الانضباط والقدرة على التكيف وروح الخدمة المجتمعية، ورسخت ثقتها في قدرتها على التطلع إلى آفاق أوسع

تصف منى التحول في دور المرأة الإماراتية اليوم بأنه تحول جذري، فبينما كانت الأجيال السابقة تنحصر أدوارها في المجال الأسري، أصبحت المرأة اليوم شريكاً في القيادة وصناعة القرار، حاضرة بقوة في الاقتصاد والتكنولوجيا والابتكار. وترى أن هذا الواقع يعكس رؤية الدولة التي جعلت من المرأة شريكاً مساوياً في مسيرة التنمية

وعن سمو الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك، “أم الإمارات”، تقول منى: “تمثل بالنسبة لي الرؤية والإمكانات. لقد أرست الأساس الذي مكن المرأة الإماراتية من أن تحلم بلا حدود وتقود بثقة. إن الفرص التي نعيشها اليوم هي ثمرة عقود من العطاء، ومسؤوليتنا أن نحولها إلى أثر

وتوجه منى رسالتها إلى الشابات الإماراتيات: “إن دولتنا ستظل الداعم الأكبر لأحلامكن، فكونوا ممتنات لهذه الفرص، ولكن طامحات بما يكفي لتلاحقن أهدافكن بالانضباط والشجاعة. كل فرصة نغتنمها اليوم هي استثمار في مستقبلنا ومستقبل الأجيال القادمة

أما عن شعار هذا العام “معاً نحتفي بالخمسين”، فتراه عنواناً للامتنان والمسؤولية معاً. فخلال نصف قرن فقط، حققت دولة الإمارات إنجازات استثنائية وفتحت أمام شبابها آفاقاً عالمية. وهي ترى أن النمو في وطنها نعمة تستوجب العرفان، لكنها أيضاً تكليف يفرض على جيلها مسؤولية البناء لمستقبل خمسين عاماً أخرى من الابتكار والريادة
