Dr. Ruqayya Awad AlKetbi’s journey from a curious, spirited child to a dedicated scholar embodies a lifelong commitment to knowledge and education. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Literature, followed by a Master’s in the same field, culminating in a Doctorate of Philosophy in Arabic Language and Literature. Her academic path reflects relentless dedication and passion for her discipline.

Her professional career began as a teacher at the Ministry of Education, instructing both preparatory and secondary levels. She later transitioned to higher education, teaching at the Higher Colleges of Technology and currently at the University of AlDhaid in Sharjah. Her passion lies in the pursuit and dissemination of knowledge, nurturing young minds, and instilling cultural and literary values in future generations.

As an Emirati woman, Dr. AlKetbi encountered the challenge of managing time effectively amidst multiple responsibilities. By mastering prioritization and planning, she overcame these obstacles and achieved a balance between her academic duties and personal life.

She considers her greatest achievement to be her family, believing that amidst professional and material accomplishments, the value of family remains paramount.

Dr. AlKetbi observes that Emirati women today have established themselves across all fields, with their names associated with national achievements. For her, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation,” stands as an extraordinary symbol and pivotal reference for Emirati women, having paved the way for empowerment, progress, and the affirmation of women’s presence in society.

Her message to young Emirati women is clear: “Never give up, no matter the challenges, for the taste of success comes only through dedication and perseverance.”

On the occasion of fifty years since the establishment of the General Women’s Union, the theme “Together, We Celebrate the 50” symbolizes the affirmation of presence, the continuity of giving, and the nation’s appreciation for women who have been instrumental in driving development and progress.

الدكتورة رقية عوض الكتبي، من طفلة متحمسة وطموحة إلى باحثة وعالمة ملتزمة، كرست حياتها لنقل المعرفة وتعزيز التعليم. درست الأدب العربي في مرحلة البكالوريوس، ثم أكملت الماجستير في نفس التخصص، وصولاً إلى درجة دكتوراه الفلسفة في اللغة العربية وآدابها، مستكملة مسيرتها الأكاديمية بكل تفانٍ وشغف

بدأت رحلتها المهنية كمعلمة في وزارة التربية والتعليم، حيث قامت بتدريس المرحلتين الإعدادية والثانوية، قبل أن تتجه للتعليم الجامعي في كليات التقنية العليا وجامعة الذيد بالشارقة، حيث تعمل حالياً. وما يحرك شغفها في الحياة هو حب المعرفة والإيمان بدورها في صقل عقول الأجيال الجديدة ونقل القيم الثقافية والأدبية

واجهت تحديات عدة كامرأة إماراتية، كان أبرزها إدارة الوقت بين المسؤوليات المتعددة. إلا أن اكتساب مهارات التخطيط وتنظيم الأولويات مكنها من التغلب على هذه العقبة وتحقيق التوازن بين العمل الأكاديمي والحياة الشخصية

أكبر إنجاز تعتبره الدكتورة رقية الكتبي هو عائلتها؛ فبينما تتراكم الإنجازات المهنية والمادية، تبقى الأسرة محور الحياة والقيمة الحقيقية لكل نجاح

وترى أن المرأة الإماراتية اليوم أثبتت حضورها وتميزها في جميع الميادين والتخصصات، وأصبح اسمها مرتبطاً بالنجاحات الوطنية المتنوعة. أما سمو الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك، “أم الإمارات”، فهي بالنسبة لها رمز استثنائي ومرجع مهم لكل امرأة إماراتية، إذ ساهمت جهودها في تمكين المرأة وفتح الآفاق أمامها لتحقيق التقدم والتغيير وإثبات الوجود

رسالتها للشابات الإماراتيات واضحة: “لا تستسلمن مهما كانت التحديات، فطعم النجاح لا يُدرك إلا بالاجتهاد والمثابرة

وبمناسبة مرور خمسين عاماً على تأسيس الاتحاد النسائي العام، تعتبر شعار “يداً بيد نحتفي بالخمسين” رمزاً لإثبات الوجود وديمومة العطاء، وتقديراً من الوطن للمرأة التي لعبت دوراً محورياً في مسيرة التنمية والتقدم
