Coach Voices: Building the Sport from the Ground Up

The federation’s impact is clearly reflected through the voices of those working directly with athletes on the ground. Among them is Coach Rasha Ahmed Ali Mohamed Metwally a Physical Education and Health Teacher at Khadija School in Ajman, an International Modern Pentathlon Coach, International Referee, Swimming Coach, and coach at Zayed Complex, Ajman. Coach Rasha has been part of the federation since its earliest stages. “I joined modern pentathlon from the very beginning of the federation’s journey,” she said. “I participated in all training courses, meetings, and development programs, which played a major role in my growth and achievements.”

She successfully built competitive teams in the Under-11 and Under-13 categories, with her athletes participating in local and international competitions under the supervision of Ministry of Education-approved training centers. “We achieved many results and podium finishes,” she noted. She credited much of her success to Dr. Huda Al Matrooshi: “She continuously supports coaches, referees, athletes, and officials. Her recognition and appreciation have had a huge impact on everyone in the sport.” Coach Rasha also expressed gratitude to parents for their support and involvement.

Weam Wahid Almandhari: Weam is a promising young athlete in the UAE Modern Pentathlon community, whose dedication and perseverance have already led to remarkable success. Throughout the season, she achieved an impressive record of one 1st-place finish and two 2nd-place finishes, reflecting her commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. “I would like to sincerely thank Coach Rasha for her continuous support and guidance throughout my journey,” said Weam. “She has always encouraged me to do my best and believe in myself, both in training and during competitions.” Reflecting on her achievements, Weam said, “These achievements mean a lot to me. Every medal is special, but what matters most is how much I have learned and grown through the experience. Weam added, “I am especially grateful to my mom for always standing by my side. She has supported me through every challenge, celebrated every success with me, and motivated me to keep going even when things were difficult. Her encouragement, sacrifices, and belief in me have been a big part of my journey, and I am proud to share these achievements with her.” Her mother expressed her pride in Weam’s accomplishments, saying, “Watching Weam grow through sport has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Every competition teaches her valuable lessons about discipline, resilience, and determination. While we are proud of the medals she has earned, we are even prouder of the strong character, confidence, and sportsmanship she continues to develop. We will always support her dreams and encourage her to reach her full potential”.

Maitha Sultan Al Zaabi: Umm Maitha shared her daughter’s journey: “Maitha participated in the School Olympics 2025 in Laser Run and achieved third place at the national level,” she said. “In 2026, she competed in the UAE Laser Run and Biathle Championship in Kalba and achieved first place.” She emphasized the sport’s deeper impact: “It taught her discipline, confidence, perseverance, and responsibility. I have seen her grow stronger with every competition. “As a mother, there is no greater happiness than watching your child become confident, ambitious, and disciplined. Her achievements are a reflection of her perseverance, discipline, and passion for the sport. Reflecting on her achievement, Shaikha expressed both pride and gratitude for the journey that led her to the top of the podium. “My name is Shaikha Ahmed Alshehhie, and I am a sixth-grade student. I participated in Laser Run and, Alhamdulillah, I won the gold medal,” she shared with a smile. Behind every young champion is a story of commitment, perseverance, and support. I am 11 years old and I am participating at Zayed Complex, Al Montazah Ajman. I am very happy to be part of modern pentathlon, and I hope to become better in the future, God willing.
