Mona Al Mansouri is considered one of the most prominent Emirati businesswomen and an internationally recognized fashion designer who managed to carve her path with confident steps, even though her beginnings were not connected to this field. She studied petroleum engineering and began her career in that industry, but soon followed her long-standing passion for fashion, shifting from the strict world of industry to the boundless realm of creativity and beauty. Despite initial opposition from her family, she insisted on pursuing her own journey, becoming the first Emirati woman to enter the field of fashion design in Abu Dhabi, opening the way for future generations of women.

Mona Al Mansouri recalls that her start was filled with both anxiety and inspiration. She says: “I began my professional journey in fashion design at an early stage, and at the time it was not socially accepted. I started as a hobbyist, and that hobby drew me into a vast world until I reached international recognition. My starting point was participating in Beirut Fashion Week thirty-three years ago. As much as I feared the experience, it inspired me to continue on this path.” From that moment, she never stopped moving forward, participating in major shows alongside renowned names such as Dolce Lifaro and Pierre Katra, and presenting her designs in fashion capitals from Italy to Beirut and beyond.

Her contributions to fashion were not superficial or merely aesthetic; they went beyond beauty to deliver messages with humanitarian and environmental dimensions. She was among the first designers to introduce the concept of sustainability into fashion, using natural materials such as cotton and silk and creatively recycling fabrics. She created designs that carried powerful global messages, such as the “Globe Dress” showcased in Milan in support of environmental protection. Her Emirati identity remained a constant source of inspiration, reflected in her integration of local heritage elements like the desert landscape, palm trees, the sea, and the colors of sand.

Despite her remarkable success, her journey was not without challenges. She faced social resistance to appearing in the media, which at the time was considered inappropriate. She recalls: “One of the most important challenges I faced as an Emirati woman was appearing in the media. Back then, it was seen as shameful. I faced opposition from my brother and my family, but I was able to overcome it with the support and encouragement of my husband, which helped me reach where I am today.” Thus, her real achievements became the most convincing response to every doubt or question raised.

Alongside her professional success, Mona Al Mansouri never overlooked her humanitarian responsibilities. She believes charity is a natural extension of any success, and for that reason, she established four mosques in Chad, Indonesia, Sudan, and Egypt. Today, she is working on building a housing and educational complex for children in Egypt. She explains: “I always strive to bring happiness to others through charitable work.” This humanitarian aspect brought her closer to people’s hearts as much as her fashion creations brought her closer to international runways.

When it comes to her proudest accomplishments, Al Mansouri emphasizes that pride is not tied to a single moment but to an entire journey. She earned the title of Best Designer in Asia and received numerous honors from international figures and institutions, including the Governor of Astana, the Governor of Malacca, and the Presidential Court for her design of the uniforms for official hosts. She states with confidence: “I am proud of many achievements, not just one. The numerous international recognitions I received were the result of my efforts to enrich the world of fashion.”

Her perspective on the role of Emirati women today reflects deep pride in the journey led by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the efforts of “Mother of the Nation,” Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. She says: “The Emirati woman has surpassed many women in the developed world, especially in Europe and the Middle East. I am proud to be Emirati; today our women are parliamentarians, doctors, decision-makers, fighter pilots, sea captains, and even leaders in construction. All of this is thanks to Sheikh Zayed, may he rest in peace, and the unlimited support of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.” Speaking of Her Highness, she adds: “She means a great deal to me. She is the symbol of the strong and influential Emirati woman. Her support has had a tremendous impact on my life and career, and on Emirati society as a whole.”

When she addresses young Emirati women, her words are a blend of advice and determination: “My message to Emirati youth is to never despair, and to keep striving to achieve your dreams. Don’t rush to reach the top, because maintaining success is harder than achieving it. Be ambassadors for your country, and know that sincerity in work is always the secret of success.”

She concludes by affirming that the slogan “Together, We Celebrate the Fifty” represents much more than a national occasion for her. It is a reflection of societal cohesion and collective will that has made the UAE a global model of development and cooperation. She says: “It means a great deal to me, as it reflects solidarity and cooperation among the people of the Emirates and our rise on the global stage.”

منى المنصوري تعد واحدة من أبرز سيدات الأعمال الإماراتيات ومصممة أزياء عالمية استطاعت أن تشق طريقها بخطوات واثقة، رغم أن بداياتها لم تكن مرتبطة بهذا المجال. فقد درست هندسة البترول وبدأت حياتها المهنية فيه، لكنها سرعان ما استجابت لشغفها القديم بالأزياء لتتحول من عالم الصناعة الصارم إلى فضاء الإبداع والجمال. ورغم المعارضة من محيطها في البداية، أصرّت على خوض تجربتها الخاصة، لتصبح أول إماراتية تدخل مجال تصميم الأزياء في أبوظبي وتفتحه أمام أجيال لاحقة من النساء

تروي منى المنصوري أن البداية كانت محفوفة بالقلق والخوف، لكنها كانت أيضًا مليئة بالإلهام. تقول: “بدأت رحلتي المهنية في مجال تصميم الأزياء في وقت مبكر، وكان في حينها غير مستحب. بدأت كهاوية، والهواية أخذتني لعالم كبير وواسع حتى وصلت إلى العالمية. نقطة الانطلاق كانت مشاركتي في أسبوع الموضة ببيروت قبل ثلاثة وثلاثين عامًا. بقدر خوفي من التجربة بقدر ما ألهمتني للاستمرار في هذا المسار.” منذ تلك اللحظة، لم تتوقف خطواتها عن التقدم والمغامرة، لتشارك في عروض كبرى إلى جانب أسماء لامعة مثل دولتشي ليفارو وبيار كترا، ولتقدم تصاميمها في عواصم الموضة من إيطاليا إلى بيروت وغيرها

إسهاماتها في مجال الأزياء لم تكن سطحية أو شكلية، بل تجاوزت حدود الجمال لتصبح رسائل تحمل أبعادًا إنسانية وبيئية. فقد كانت من أوائل المصممات اللواتي أدخلن مفهوم الاستدامة إلى الأزياء، مستخدمة القطن والحرير والمواد الطبيعية، ومعيدة تدوير الأقمشة بطرق مبتكرة. وابتكرت تصاميم تحمل رسائل عالمية واضحة، مثل فستان “الكرة الأرضية” الذي عرضته في ميلانو دعمًا لقضايا حماية البيئة. ولم تنس أن تجعل من الهوية الإماراتية مصدر إلهام دائم، فمزجت في أعمالها عناصر من التراث المحلي كالبيئة الصحراوية، والنخيل، وألوان البحر والرمال

ورغم نجاحاتها الكبيرة، لم تكن الطريق خالية من التحديات. فقد واجهت رفضًا اجتماعيًا لفكرة الظهور الإعلامي في تلك المرحلة، وكان ذلك يُعتبر معيبًا في نظر الكثيرين. تذكر تلك الفترة بقولها: “أهم التحديات التي واجهتني كامرأة إماراتية كان الظهور في الإعلام، ففي وقتنا ذلك كان معيبًا ومشينًا. واجهت تحديًا مع أخي وعائلتي، لكنني تمكنت من تجاوزه بدعم زوجي وتشجيعه لي، وهو ما ساعدني للوصول لما أنا عليه.” وهكذا جعلت من الإنجاز الحقيقي ردًا عمليًا على كل شك وتساؤل

وبجانب نجاحها المهني، لم تغفل منى المنصوري عن مسؤولياتها الإنسانية. فهي ترى أن العمل الخيري امتداد طبيعي لأي نجاح، لذلك أسست أربعة مساجد في تشاد وإندونيسيا والسودان ومصر، وتعمل اليوم على إنشاء مجمع سكني ودراسي للأطفال في مصر. وتوضح: “أسعى دائمًا لإسعاد الآخرين من خلال أعمال الخير.” وهذا الوجه الإنساني جعلها قريبة من قلوب الناس بقدر قربها من منصات الموضة

أما عن الإنجازات التي تعتز بها، فهي تؤكد أن الفخر لا يرتبط بلحظة واحدة، بل بمسيرة متكاملة. حصلت على لقب أفضل مصممة في قارة آسيا، ونالت تكريمات عدة من شخصيات ومؤسسات دولية، بينها حاكم أستانا، وحاكم ملقا، فضلًا عن تكريم ديوان الرئاسة لتصميمها زي المضيفين الرئيسيين. وتقول بثقة: “أنا فخورة بإنجازات وليس إنجازًا واحدًا، فالعديد من التكريمات على المستوى الدولي كانت نتيجة لجهودي في إثراء عالم الأزياء

رؤيتها لدور المرأة الإماراتية اليوم تعكس اعتزازًا كبيرًا بالمسيرة التي قادها المغفور له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان، وجهود “أم الإمارات” سمو الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك. تقول: “المرأة الإماراتية سبقت الكثير من سيدات العالم المتطور، وخاصة في أوروبا والشرق الأوسط. أفتخر أنني إماراتية؛ فالمرأة هنا أصبحت برلمانية، دكتورة، صانعة قرار، طيارة حربية، وقبطان بحري، وحتى في مجال المقاولات. كل هذا بفضل الشيخ زايد طيب الله ثراه، والدعم اللامحدود من الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك.” وعن سموها تضيف: “تمثل لي الكثير، فهي رمز للمرأة الإماراتية القوية والمؤثرة. دعمها كان له أثر كبير في حياتي ومسيرتي، بل وعلى المجتمع الإماراتي بأكمله

وحين تتوجه برسالة إلى الشابات الإماراتيات، تحمل كلماتها مزيجًا من النصح والإصرار: “رسالتي للشابات الإماراتيات هي ألا ييأسن أبدًا، وأن يتابعن المضي في السعي لتحقيق أحلامهن. لا تستعجلي للوصول إلى القمة، فالمحافظة عليها أصعب من تحقيقها. كوني سفيرة لبلادك، والإخلاص في العمل هو سر النجاح دائمًا

وتختتم حديثها بالتأكيد على أن شعار “يدًا بيد نحتفي بالخمسين” يمثل بالنسبة لها أكثر من مجرد مناسبة وطنية، فهو تجسيد للتضامن المجتمعي، وللإرادة الجماعية التي جعلت الإمارات نموذجًا عالميًا في التطور والتعاون. تقول: عام الخمسين يعني لي الكثير، فهو يعكس التضامن والتعاون بين أبناء المجتمع الإماراتي والارتقاء عالميًا ودوليًا
