In a world where the business of communication is often dominated by volume over value, Anastasiya Golovatenko stands as a measured force equal parts strategist, mentor, and trailblazer. As Director of Sherpa Communications, a Dubai-based consultancy known for its B2B focus and integrity-first ethos, Anastasiya has redefined what it means to lead with intention in the fast-paced, high-pressure world of public relations.

But her story begins not in a corner office, but with a leap of faith that few would dare take.

“I left a senior role back home and started from scratch in Dubai as an intern,” she says, with the same quiet confidence that likely carried her through that uncertain beginning. “Everyone thought I was crazy. But I had nothing to lose.”

What she gained, however, was the kind of knowledge only earned through the trenches. Over nearly two decades, Anastasiya has advised global multinationals, government institutions, NGOs, startups, and SMEs alike. Her reputation? Built not just on campaigns, but on clarity identifying business pain points and translating them into transformative communication strategies. Her work has touched diplomatic corridors and startup incubators with equal impact.

At Sherpa, her leadership style fuses business acumen with human-centered ethics. “We’re not just an agency. We’re a platform,” she says. “A space where PR professionals can grow fast, where everyone has a voice, and where we fire clients who disrespect our values or our people.”

This isn’t just rhetoric. Sherpa boasts one of the highest talent retention rates in the region’s PR industry an achievement not built on perks, but purpose. “We base our operations on strong values. We promote from within. We listen. And we support our team as whole humans, not just employees.”

That philosophy was tested and deepened when Anastasiya became a mother in 2020, right as the world locked down. “I hid my pregnancy at first,” she confesses. “I felt I had to be strong, to keep bringing in business, to be the role model and provider.” Even as the world paused, Anastasiya kept building. She won Sherpa’s biggest retainer the day after giving birth.

“No maternity leave. Sleepless nights. Full workdays. That period tested everything in me. But I wasn’t doing it for myself. I had a team to protect and a child.”

The experience left a mark—and a mission. “The moment a colleague became pregnant, we upgraded our contracts, offered the maximum maternity leave, and made remote work standard. Everything built on trust. And it worked. Today we alternate between remote and in-office work, and the team thrives in this balance.”

When asked what companies should do to better support working mothers, Anastasiya doesn’t speak in HR jargon. She speaks human.

“Stay in dialogue. That’s all. Not everyone will have the same needs, but people will remember that you listened.”

Leadership, for her, is less about policies and more about practices. “Introduce processes. They’re gates that help the right things happen in the right order. Build on values. Create flexibility that flows both ways. And above all care.”

Anastasiya mentors through in5, TiE Dubai, the Dubai Business Women Council, and the Abu Dhabi SME Hub. Her public speaking appearances at GITEX, STEP Conference, and others aren’t about self-promotion. They’re about paying it forward.

When asked about what shaped her ethos, she circles back to her belief in people: “You’re the sum of the five people you surround yourself with. Choose well. Share good vibes. And the good will multiply.”

In an age of manufactured messages and performative leadership, Anastasiya Golovatenko remains refreshingly real. For her, PR isn’t spin. It’s service. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about showing up, caring, and building a tribe that rises together.

“One person can’t build a great company. It takes a tribe.”

And it’s clear: under her leadership, that tribe is thriving.
