Rooted in Emirati heritage yet driven by modern ambition, Shaikha AlShamsi stands out as both a writer and a seasoned HR professional, with over 17 years of experience in Abu Dhabi’s government sector. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Human Resources from the Higher Colleges of Technology, as well as certification as an occupational assessor by the British Psychological Society.

“What drives me,” she says, “is the urge to leave a meaningful impact , whether by shaping people plans at work, or by weaving emotions into words that reach hearts.”

Her professional journey began with deep curiosity about people, their talents, and their potential and about how systems could empower or hinder them. Entering HR with the purpose to enable and develop, she later discovered a growing passion for leadership, protocol, and diplomacy.

This led her to enroll in The International Leaders program at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, developed in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, aligned with the UAE’s National Agenda 2071. Visiting the United Nations Office in Geneva, she recalls, was a transformative moment that deepened her awareness of global responsibility.

Reflecting on challenges, she explains: “In the UAE, women have been empowered since the era of the late Sheikh Zayed and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. Today I dont see challenges specifically for the women, What I see are challenges at any workplace whether a job, individual interest/ talent, or studies is how competitive the environment is becoming and that is due to the increasing number of talents, graduates who are knowledgeable, skilled, empowered, & enabled. I think this is important and healthy as it drives and pushes us to be better and never stop learning and developing.

Her achievements include winning a national literary award, being selected for the Emirates Literature Foundation’s Fellowship, and receiving the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council award for “Most Creative and Innovative Project Idea” (The Writer). Yet she emphasizes: “Above all, I am proud of staying true to myself and my values , choosing integrity in a world that often tries to pull you away from your roots is the greatest achievement of all.”

On the evolution of Emirati women, she notes: “We stand on the shoulders of giants. What differs today is the access to resources, technology, and openness and that places a greater responsibility on us to safeguard our identity and pass it on to future generations.”

To her, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak is a beacon of empowerment, compassion, and foresight: “She gave us more than rights , she gave us confidence.”

Her message to young Emirati women is clear: “You are enough, as you are. Don’t wait for permission to shine, and don’t shrink yourself to fit spaces not built for you. Let rejection redirect you, not define you. Carry your Emirati identity with pride, and let your passion be your compass.”

On the theme “Together, We Celebrate the 50,” AlShamsi reflects: “A powerful woman is one who enables others, clears the path for others, and leaves a constructive mark in her society. My message to young girls is to look for inspiration beyond social media , within our own society, among role models like Alia Al Mansoori, Dubai Abulhoul, H.E. Shamma Al Mazrouei, and Hamda Taryam (may she rest in peace). The UAE is rich with potential, and it deserves yours.”

بين عراقة الجذور الإماراتية وروح الطموح الحديثة، تبرز شخصية شيخة الشامسي، الكاتبة والخبيرة في مجال الموارد البشرية، والتي تمتد خبرتها لأكثر من سبعة عشر عاماً في حكومة أبوظبي. تحمل شهادة ماجستير في إدارة الأعمال وبكالوريوس في العلوم التطبيقية تخصص الموارد البشرية من كليات التقنية العليا، إلى جانب اعتمادها كمقيّم مهني من الجمعية البريطانية لعلم النفس

تقول الشامسي: «ما يدفعني دائماً هو الرغبة في ترك أثر حقيقي، سواء عبر خطط الموارد البشرية التي تمس حياة الموظفين ومساراتهم المهنية، أو من خلال الكلمات التي أكتبها لتصل معانيها إلى قلوب القراء

بدأت رحلتها المهنية بفضول عميق تجاه البشر، قدراتهم وإمكاناتهم، وكيف يمكن للأنظمة أن تمكّنهم أو تعرقلهم. ومع انغماسها في عالم الموارد البشرية، اكتشفت لاحقاً شغفاً متزايداً بالقيادة والبروتوكول والدبلوماسية. هذا الفضول قادها إلى برنامج “القادة الدوليون” بجامعة حمدان بن محمد الذكية، بالتعاون مع معهد الأمم المتحدة للتدريب والبحوث، ضمن رؤية الإمارات وأجندتها الوطنية ٢٠٧١. وتصف تجربتها في زيارة مكتب الأمم المتحدة بجنيف بأنها نقطة تحول منحتها وعياً أعمق بالمسؤولية العالمية

اليوم، لا أرى تحديات تخص المرأة تحديداً، بل ما أراه هو تحديات موجودة في أي بيئة عمل، سواء كانت وظيفة، أو اهتماماً فردياً/موهبة، أو دراسة، وهي مدى التنافسية التي أصبحت عليها هذه البيئات، وذلك بسبب تزايد أعداد المواهب والخريجين الذين يمتلكون المعرفة والمهارة، والمُتمكّنين والمدعومين. وأعتقد أن هذا أمر مهم وصحي، لأنه يدفعنا ويحفزنا لنكون أفضل، وألا نتوقف عن التعلم والتطور

أما عن إنجازاتها، فتشير إلى فوزها بجائزة أدبية وطنية واختيارها ضمن زمالة مؤسسة الإمارات للآداب، إضافة إلى جائزة “الفكرة الأكثر إبداعاً وابتكاراً عن مشروع الكاتب، من مجلس سيدات أعمال أبوظبي، لكنها تضيف: «أكبر إنجاز بالنسبة لي هو أني فخورة بتمسكي بقيمي، خصوصا في اللحظات التي كان التنازل فيها هو الخيار الأسهل، باختياري أن أكون كما أريد، متمسكة بالقيم التي أؤمن بها، ومتمسكة بالنزاهة في عالم يحاول دائما أن يجرك بعيدا عن ذاتك الحقيقية وجذورك

وعن تطور دور المرأة الإماراتية تقول: «نحن نقف على أكتاف عمالقة، والفرق اليوم هو حجم الموارد والانفتاح والتكنولوجيا، ما يضع على عاتقنا مسؤولية أكبر في الحفاظ على الهوية ونقلها للأجيال المقبلة

وترى في سمو الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك حفظها الله رمزاً للتمكين والرحمة والرؤية المستقبلية: «لقد منحتنا أكثر من الحقوق، منحتنا الثقة

أما رسالتها للفتيات الطموحات فتقول: «أنتِ كافية كما أنتِ. لا تنتظري الإذن لتشرقي، ولا تصغري نفسك لتلائم فضاءات لم تُبنَ لكِ. دعي الرفض يوجّهك لا يعرّفك، واحملي هويتك بفخر

وبمناسبة شعار «يدا بيد نحتفل بالخمسين»، تؤكد الشامسي أن المرأة القوية هي التي تدعم غيرها، وتفتح الطريق لغيرها، وتترك أثراً إيجابياً في مجتمعها، وتخاطب الجيل الجديد قائلة: «ابحثن عن القدوة في مجتمعكن وبين شخصيات وطنية نفخر بها مثل علياء المنصوري، دبي أبو الهول، معالي شما المزروعي، وحمدة تريّم رحمها الله، فالإمارات غنية بالإمكانات، وتستحق أن تضعن بصمتكن فيها
