Maryam Al Mulla Al Muhairi is an Emirati woman who believes that true media drives change, reflects society’s identity, and gives a voice to the voiceless. Her passion began with the written word and evolved into a desire to empower media talents and launch projects and initiatives that serve the media landscape in the UAE and the Arab world.

Professional Journey

Maryam explains that her journey began with an early passion for media and its impact on shaping public awareness and fostering cultural dialogue.

“This passion led me to study media at the Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai, where I built a solid foundation combining academic and practical aspects of modern media production.”

After graduation, she worked at several governmental media institutions, moving between responsibilities until joining the Dubai Press Club, where her experience grew and her belief deepened that media is a tool for empowerment and positive change. She adds:

“What inspires me daily is being part of an outstanding team under exceptional leadership, particularly Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, who is a model of competence, commitment, and insightful vision.”

Challenges as an Emirati Woman

Maryam emphasizes that the real challenge was not being a woman, but proving her value in a competitive environment. She says:

“Perhaps the biggest challenge was balancing professional ambition with social responsibilities. However, institutional and family support, along with belief in leadership’s vision, helped me overcome obstacles with confidence.”

Proud Achievements

She takes pride in every initiative that opened doors for a new generation of media professionals, such as the Arab Podcast Program organized by Dubai Press Club, which brought together participants from across the Arab world and created spaces for dialogue and creativity.

“I am also proud of the trust placed in me by leadership and the responsibility of leading a creative team like Dubai Press Club a responsibility I cherish every day.”

Maryam observes that Emirati women today advance confidently in all fields, carrying significant national responsibilities.

“The achievements of previous generations laid the foundation, and the current generation is building upon it. Today, we have ministers, scientists, opinion leaders, and decision-makers, all made possible by leadership support and societal awareness.”
