Maitha Almeqbaali: A Daughter of the UAE Who Creates Impact Before Position

Maitha Almeqbaali is a young Emirati woman who believes that empowering women begins with the family before it becomes a state initiative. She grew up in an extended family where women played diverse roles—homemaker, teacher, employee, and entrepreneur instilling in her the conviction that a woman’s strength starts at home and extends to the whole society. She says:
“Empowerment of women does not begin only with government initiatives, but stems essentially from the family environment, which forms the foundation of resilience and support.”

For her, passion is not defined by words but translated into tangible impact. She has not yet started a stable professional career, but she has invested every available opportunity to leave a mark carrying the name of the UAE everywhere. She participated in various trainings and volunteer initiatives, from Emirates Post to Expo 2020, the Department of Economic Development, Aldar Properties, the Presidential Court during COP28, and the Family Care Authority, where she helped organize events supporting families and providing them with a positive environment to overcome challenges.

She also stood out in student projects and innovation, developing ideas that turned into practical solutions, such as:

• EventHub, which won first place in the Higher Colleges of Technology hackathon,
• Laqtat, which connects photographers with events,
• QuickCare, to reduce clinic congestion,
• Breezy, a portable healthy food product,
• Drinjoy, an instant beverage mix.

These projects are part of a rich record of certifications and volunteer work that reflect her dedication and commitment, including: the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange Hackathon Certificate (2024), a Protocol and VIP Etiquette Certificate (2023), the Higher Colleges of Technology Hackathon Certificate (2022), and over 100 volunteer hours in initiatives such as Fazaa and Yes to Work.

For her, the most significant achievement is not a certificate or a title, but the moment she saw joy in the eyes of those who benefited from her social initiatives. She says:
“Providing a supportive social environment was the greatest achievement, because it left an impact on others before leaving a mark on myself.”

Her challenges were not few, especially the constant travel between Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai, but she found that family support was the bridge to overcome every difficulty. She always recalls the role of her father and mother, who instilled in her the belief that the family is the foundation of empowerment.

In her message to young Emirati women, she says:
“Do not wait for perfect conditions; create opportunities around you. Be confident in yourself, believe in your abilities, hold on to your values, principles, and national identity, and support one another for every step today is a building block in shaping the future of the UAE.”

Today, Emirati women are leaders and innovators in all fields education, economy, politics, and innovation. They are no longer just partners in development, but creators of change and holders of lasting impact.

She sees Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation,” as her role model and inspiration. Her continuous support for women and families makes Emiratis feel fortunate to have leadership that genuinely cares for every aspect of people’s lives.

Her Highness Sheikha Fatima’s unwavering support and the opportunities she provides in all fields have deepened the sense of responsibility among young Emiratis, strengthening their commitment to giving back, meeting the expectations of their wise leadership through continuous learning, skill development, and dedicated service to the nation—while preserving the authentic identity of the Emirati woman.

As for the slogan “Hand in Hand, We Celebrate Fifty Years,” Maitha Almeqbaali sees it as an embodiment of teamwork and collaboration between the sons and daughters of the nation, men and women alike. The fiftieth anniversary of the General Women’s Union affirms that women are at the heart of national development, and that achievement requires everyone’s cooperation. It also reflects the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan:

بالنسبة لها، الشغف لا يُعرّف بالكلمات بل يُترجم إلى أثر ملموس. لم تبدأ بعد مسيرة مهنية مستقرة، لكنها استثمرت كل فرصة متاحة لتترك بصمة تحمل اسم الإمارات في كل مكان. شاركت في تدريبات وتطوعات متعددة، من بريد الإمارات إلى معرض إكسبو الدولي 2020، إلى دائرة التنمية الاقتصادية، إلى الدار العقارية، إلى ديوان الرئاسة في مؤتمر الأطراف للمناخ (المؤتمر الثامن والعشرون)، إلى هيئة الرعاية الأسرية، حيث ساهمت في تنظيم فعاليات تدعم الحالات الأسرية وتمنحهم بيئة إيجابية لتجاوز تحدياتهم

وتميزت أيضاً بريادة المشاريع الطلابية والابتكار، حيث طورت أفكاراً تحولت إلى حلول عملية مثل

منصة الفعاليات، الذي حصد المركز الأول في ملتقى كلية التقنية العليا-

هذه المشاريع تأتي ضمن سجل غني من الشهادات والمشاركات التطوعية التي تعكس اجتهادها وتفانيها، ومنها: شهادة ملتقى سوق أبوظبي المالي (2024)، شهادة بروتوكول والتعامل مع كبار الشخصيات (2023)، شهادة ملتقى كلية التقنية العليا (2022)، وأكثر من مئة ساعة تطوعية في “فزعة”، “نعم للعمل”، وغيرها

تحدياتها لم تكن قليلة، خصوصاً التنقل المستمر بين العين وأبوظبي ودبي، لكنها وجدت أن الدعم العائلي كان الجسر لعبور كل صعوبة. تستذكر دوماً دور والدها ووالدتها، اللذين زرعا فيها الإيمان بأن الأسرة هي أساس التمكين

وفي رسالتها إلى الشابات الإماراتيات تقول: لا تنتظرن الظروف المثالية، بل اصنعن الفرص من حولكن. كوني واثقة بنفسكِ، مؤمنة بقدراتك، متمسكة بقيمك ومبادئك وهويتك الوطنية، وكونّ داعمات لبعضكن البعض، فكل خطوة اليوم هي لبنة في بناء مستقبل الإمارات

اليوم، المرأة الإماراتية رائدة ومبتكرة في كل المجالات: التعليم، الاقتصاد، السياسة، والابتكار. لم تعد فقط شريكة في التنمية، بل أصبحت صانعة للتغيير وصاحبة أثر مستدام
