Noura Mubarak AlKarbi, an Emirati electrical engineer, member of the “Taqa” Youth Council, and youth delegate to the International Renewable Energy Agency, represents a model of an ambitious, innovative, and nationally committed Emirati woman. Noura says, “I believe that sustainable energy is not a choice but a necessity for a better future, and through my work and initiatives, I strive to support the transition to clean energy in the UAE.” Her passion is fueled by her belief in teamwork, continuous learning, and applying innovation to serve society and the environment.

Noura’s professional journey began during her school days, where she participated in scientific competitions such as Think Science and Emirates Skills, achieving top ranks. She explains, “My passion for technology and innovation led me to diverse practical experiences in energy and technical services, from projects in local companies to the Noor Abu Dhabi solar power plant, before joining Taqa.”

At Taqa, Noura works as an Operations Engineer in electricity distribution, overseeing emergency and scheduled maintenance, improving network efficiency, and initiating sustainability projects. She adds, “These experiences honed my field, analytical, and leadership skills and solidified my passion for the energy sector.”

Challenges were part of her journey, as she works in a traditionally male-dominated technical and field environment. Noura says, “I had to prove myself through achievements and professionalism. I overcame this through careful preparation for each task, continuous skill development, and building a strong professional network that supported me and opened new opportunities.”

Among her proudest achievements is representing Emirati youth internationally as a delegate to IRENA, contributing to innovative solutions and exchanging insights on the future of sustainable energy. She states, “I also take pride in representing Taqa’s youth, highlighting their role and creativity in supporting the transition to clean energy and empowering youth to actively shape a brighter future.”

Regarding the evolution of Emirati women, Noura notes, “Today, Emirati women are essential partners in leading vital sectors and decision-making, thanks to the limitless support of our wise leadership. Unlike previous generations who faced limited opportunities, we can now compete globally and contribute effectively to innovation and development.”

About Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Noura says, “The Mother of the Nation is an icon of inspiration and a symbol of strength and empowerment. Her support for women opened doors to education, employment, and participation in development, directly impacting my career and giving me the confidence that ambition knows no limits.”

Her message to young Emirati women: “Believe in yourself, invest in developing your abilities, and do not fear trying or facing challenges. Success is built on determination and hard work, and you can be part of shaping the future.”

On this year’s theme, “Together, We Celebrate the 50,” Noura reflects, “It is a message of pride and gratitude for fifty years of collaboration and giving among Emirati men and women, and a call to continue building on this legacy for a brighter and more sustainable future.”

نورة مبارك الكربي، مهندسة كهربائية إماراتية وعضو مجلس شباب “طاقة”، ومندوبة الشباب لدى الوكالة الدولية للطاقة المتجددة، تمثل نموذجاً لشابة إماراتية تجمع بين الطموح، الابتكار، والالتزام الوطني. تقول نورة: “أؤمن بأن الطاقة المستدامة ليست خياراً بل ضرورة لمستقبل أفضل، وأسعى من خلال عملي ومبادراتي إلى دعم التحول نحو الطاقة النظيفة في دولة الإمارات.” شغفها ينبع من إيمانها بقوة العمل الجماعي، التعلم المستمر، وتوظيف الابتكار لخدمة المجتمع والبيئة

رحلة نورة المهنية بدأت منذ أيام الدراسة، حيث شاركت في مسابقات علمية مثل “ثينك ساينس” و”مهارات الإمارات”، وحققت مراكز متقدمة. تقول: “شغفي بالتقنية والابتكار قادني لتجارب عملية متنوعة في مجالات الطاقة والخدمات الفنية، من مشاريع تقنية في شركات محلية وصولاً إلى محطة نور أبوظبي للطاقة الشمسية، قبل الانضمام إلى مؤسسة طاقة

في “طاقة”، تعمل نورة كمهندسة عمليات في توزيع الكهرباء، مشرفة على التشغيل والصيانة الطارئة والمجدولة، وتحسين كفاءة الشبكات، وابتكار مبادرات للاستدامة. تضيف: “هذه التجارب صقلت مهاراتي الميدانية والتحليلية والقيادية، ورسخت شغفي بقطاع الطاقة

التحديات لم تغب عن مسيرة نورة، فهي تعمل في بيئة تقنية وميدانية تقليدية غالباً ما يسيطر عليها الرجال. تقول: “كان عليّ إثبات نفسي بالإنجازات والاحترافية. تغلبت على ذلك بالتحضير الجيد لكل مهمة، وتطوير مهاراتي، وبناء شبكة علاقات مهنية قوية دعمتني وفتحت أمامي فرصاً جديدة

من أبرز إنجازاتها، تمثيل شباب الإمارات على المستوى الدولي كمندوبة لدى الوكالة الدولية للطاقة المتجددة، حيث تشارك في صياغة حلول مبتكرة وتبادل الرؤى حول مستقبل الطاقة المستدامة. تقول: “أفخر أيضاً بتمثيل شباب ‘طاقة’، والمساهمة في إبراز دورهم وإبداعاتهم في دعم التحول نحو الطاقة النظيفة، وتمكين الشباب من لعب دور فاعل في صناعة مستقبل أكثر إشراقاً

حول تطوّر دور المرأة الإماراتية، تؤكد نورة: “اليوم، أصبحت المرأة الإماراتية شريكاً أساسياً في قيادة القطاعات الحيوية وصنع القرار، بفضل الدعم اللامحدود من القيادة الرشيدة. نحن الآن قادرون على المنافسة عالمياً والمساهمة الفاعلة في الابتكار والتنمية

وعن سمو الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك، تقول نورة: “أم الإمارات هي أيقونة الإلهام ورمز القوة والتمكين. دعمها للمرأة فتح أمامنا أبواب التعليم والعمل والمشاركة في التنمية، وأثر بشكل مباشر في مسيرتي، مانحاً إياي الثقة بأن سقف الطموح لا حدود له

رسالتها للشابات الإماراتيات: “آمني بنفسكِ، استثمري في تطوير قدراتكِ، ولا تخشي التجربة أو مواجهة التحديات. النجاح يُصنع بالإصرار والعمل الجاد، وأنتِ قادرة على أن تكوني جزءاً من صناعة المستقبل

أما عن شعار هذا العام، “يداً بيد نحتفي بالخمسين”، فتقول: “هو رسالة وفاء واعتزاز بمسيرة خمسين عاماً من التكاتف والعطاء بين أبناء وبنات الإمارات، ودعوة لمواصلة البناء على هذا الإرث من أجل مستقبل أكثر إشراقاً واستدامة
