Amna Mohammed Al Zaabi: From the UAE Begins Change — A Leader Who Believes That the Greatest Investment Is in People
Leadership Beyond Titles
We often associate leadership with positions, power with achievements, and success with what others can see. Yet over the years, I have come to realize that the greatest form of leadership begins in a completely different place—within the individual.
Several years ago, I wrote a short post on my social media account. To me, it was simply an idea I wanted to share. What I did not know was that those words would reach someone I had never met before, and that they would become the beginning of a story that would stay with me throughout every stage of my life.
A Message That Became a New Beginning
A few days later, I received a message from a Person of Determination. He told me that he had read that post several times and that, for the first time in a long while, he felt that change was possible and that he wanted to begin a new journey with himself.
He was not seeking sympathy, nor was he looking for ready-made solutions. He was simply searching for a starting point.
We met, and that message evolved into a coaching session that became one of the most impactful conversations of my life. We spoke about the thoughts that can become a person’s greatest obstacle and about how one small step can mark the beginning of a long journey toward transformation.
True Leadership Begins with People
When that session ended, I realized that true leadership does not begin with titles or authority—it begins with people. I learned that the greatest impact one can have on another person’s life is helping them see themselves differently and believe in their ability to start again.
Since that day, there has been one question I return to at the end of every day: How many people did I help believe in themselves today?
More Than 18 Years of Creating Impact
Perhaps that is why, when I look back on my professional journey spanning more than eighteen years across both the public and private sectors, I remember people more than positions.
I remember an employee who became a leader, a colleague who discovered their potential, and a young person who found the courage to begin again.
Those moments are what gave my journey its true meaning.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to lead teams, manage national and community initiatives, and collaborate with partners united by a shared goal of serving society. Professional achievements have certainly been important milestones along the way, but they have never been my true measure of success.
For me, real success has always been found in watching people grow, regain confidence in themselves, and discover what they can contribute to their country and community.
The Leader Who Creates Leaders
As the years passed, I became increasingly convinced that the best leaders are not those who possess all the answers, but those who help others discover their own.
A true leader does not create followers; a true leader creates other leaders—people capable of thinking independently, making decisions, taking responsibility, and inspiring others.
This conviction did not remain confined to the workplace; it became a philosophy for life itself.
From that philosophy emerged Beautiful Mess, a consulting company specializing in human effectiveness and personal development. The idea was born from my belief that life does not always move in a straight line and that some of the most meaningful transformations begin in moments of doubt, uncertainty, or even chaos—when a person decides to give themselves another chance.
When Giving Becomes a Human Journey
Through this mission, I had the opportunity to provide nearly 200 individual coaching sessions on a voluntary basis.
Those sessions were not merely meetings; they were human journeys from which I learned just as much as the people I guided.
Time and again, these experiences confirmed for me that people are not lacking intelligence or ambition. What they often lack is someone who can see them not as they are today, but as they have the potential to become.
From Coaching Sessions to a Book That Accompanies the Journey of Change
From these experiences came my book, “Inner Dialogues: Your Guide to Change.”
My goal was not simply to add another title to the Arabic library. Rather, I wanted to create a practical guide that answered a question I heard repeatedly during coaching sessions:
“I want to change… but where do I begin?”
For that reason, I wanted the book to accompany readers at the beginning of their personal journeys and help them move from wanting change to actively practicing it in their daily lives.
The Initiative of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation”
“We Will Emerge Stronger and Better”
“We Will Emerge Stronger and Better” — A Continuous Journey Toward the Self
Today, Emirati Women’s Day 2026 is celebrated under the slogan “We Will Emerge Stronger and Better.”
To me, this slogan is far more profound than a celebration of achievements. It is an invitation for every woman to become better than she was yesterday—to see every challenge as an opportunity for growth, every experience as a lesson, and every success as a new responsibility.
On a personal level, this slogan reminds me that strength begins within—from a person’s ability to rise after every setback and maintain balance regardless of changing circumstances.
At the family level, it serves as a reminder that the family is the first environment in which confidence is formed and that women build future generations when they build homes founded on respect, dialogue, and support.
Professionally, “We Will Emerge Stronger and Better” means committing ourselves to lifelong learning, leading through competence rather than titles, and treating every achievement as the starting point for another.
Nationally, it reflects the vision of the United Arab Emirates, which has made investment in people the cornerstone of development and has established women as genuine partners in shaping the future.
To Every Woman Aspiring to Be Among the Stronger and Better
My message to every woman who aspires to be among “the stronger and better” is this: Do not tie your success to a position, a title, or a single achievement. Let it be a continuous journey of learning and giving. Do not fear new experiences, and do not regard setbacks as the end of the road. Every sincere step toward growth adds to your strength, and every challenge you overcome shapes a wiser, stronger version of yourself.
“Mother of the Nation” — A Vision That Built Confidence
It is impossible to speak about the journey of Emirati women without pausing in deep appreciation for Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation.”
She established a pioneering national model for women’s empowerment and reinforced the belief that building society begins with building people, and that when women are given opportunities and trust, they become genuine partners in development and future-building.
From the bottom of my heart, I extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to Her Highness. The achievements of Emirati women today are not the result of chance; they are the outcome of an inspiring vision and a long-term investment in people—an investment that has transformed Emirati women into a global model of generosity, excellence, and leadership.
Success Measured by Impact
When I look at my journey today, I do not think about the number of positions I have held or the number of projects I have led.
Instead, I ask myself one question:
Have I left an impact that made someone’s life better than it was before?
If the answer is yes, then that is the success I seek.
I firmly believe that a nation that invests in people, as the UAE has done, is a nation building a more sustainable future. Emirati women will continue to be essential partners in this journey—not only because they have proven their capabilities, but because they have made giving a way of life.
A Word That Could Be the Beginning of a New Life
In the end, I return to that young man who began his journey of self-discovery after reading a simple social media post.
Whenever I remember his story, I become even more convinced that a sincere word can change a person’s life and that the greatest achievement we can attain is not a title or position, but being the reason someone else begins their journey toward a better future.
The United Arab Emirates, through its leadership and vision, has taught us that true investment begins with people.
From this belief, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation,” created an inspiring model for women’s empowerment, enabling Emirati women to become genuine partners in nation-building and future-making.
On Emirati Women’s Day, I do not celebrate what I have achieved. Rather, I celebrate the impact I hope to leave behind.
Positions change, and achievements are recorded, but a person who regains confidence in themselves and believes in their ability to shape their future—that is the impact that endures.
And that is why leadership, for me, will always begin with people… and end with people.
