Zainab Al Mousawi believes that the true journey toward success does not always begin with a clear plan. It may begin with a small passion, a passing experience, and a courageous decision to rely on oneself. While studying psychology in Melbourne, Australia, in 2008, she chose to work part-time at a café alongside her university studies. That experience opened the door to a new world she did not know at the time would become a fundamental part of her journey.

Today, Zainab works as a psychologist and entrepreneur in the food and beverage industry. Since 2018, she has owned a café and bakery in Dubai, combining her academic background with her passion for hospitality and entrepreneurship. Her journey has extended across years of learning, work, travel, and gaining experiences from different parts of the world.

From Psychology to Entrepreneurship

Zainab began her professional journey in Melbourne, where she was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology while independently working part-time at a café. Over time, she did not limit herself to that first experience; instead, she continued developing herself, traveled around the world, and worked in numerous international cafés, restaurants, and bakeries.

She explored different roles, including barista and chef, gaining nearly ten years of diverse and extensive experience in the industry. Alongside her practical experience, she continued her academic journey, completing a master’s degree in psychology and social sciences.

In 2018, she returned to the UAE carrying with her years of experience and a growing passion to establish her own project, “To The Moon and Back.” Her choice of this path was not a sudden decision, but rather the result of years of travel, experiences, and exposure to professionals from different cultures. With every new experience, her passion for the field grew stronger, leading her to invest more time and effort into building her career with an ambition that continues to expand beyond what she has already achieved.

When Crises Become New Opportunities

Zainab’s journey was not without challenges. However, some of the most difficult stages became turning points in her career. One of the most significant was the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, when she reached a point where she believed she might not be able to continue. Yet, she overcame that difficult phase with greater determination to move forward.

During recent challenges related to regional instability, Zainab faced significant obstacles that directly affected her business. However, this period allowed her to discover a new side of herself — a side determined to succeed, search for solutions, and create an environment and systems capable of facing challenges rather than surrendering to them.

Through her café, Zainab established a community campaign aimed at supporting local businesses and transforming the space into a platform that supports entrepreneurs and helps them overcome difficult circumstances. This initiative played a major role in supporting several affected projects and helping them find solutions that allowed them to continue.

Zainab says this experience proved to her that a business can become more than just a commercial venture; it can transform into a community space capable of offering support, embracing ideas, and contributing to real solutions during difficult times.

A Moment That Restored Her Hope

One of the moments that remains deeply memorable for Zainab was when she felt she had lost hope during March of the previous year, at the beginning of the crisis. She decided to openly share the challenges she was facing in her work through social media platforms.

The response she received exceeded all expectations. She received tremendous support and encouragement, which reaffirmed for her the strength, kindness, and solidarity of Emirati society and its ability to stand beside its members during difficult times.

For Zainab, this experience was a powerful reminder that although individuals may face challenges, they do not necessarily face them alone. Strong communities are capable of providing hope and strength during the most difficult moments.

She emphasizes that both society and leadership played a major role in her journey, particularly during challenging periods, noting that despite all the obstacles she faced, she never felt alone in carrying the responsibilities and pressures before her.

Zainab believes that Emirati women today represent a powerful force in society. The opportunities available to them, along with continuous support from the wise leadership, have created broad spaces for learning, growth, and success.

She believes Emirati women have continuously proven their ability to overcome challenges and grow through them, and that there is no field today where Emirati women cannot participate and excel.

She explains that what distinguishes the Emirati experience is that women were not only given opportunities, but were also granted trust, encouragement, and support, allowing their ambitions to have no limits.

Zainab encourages every young Emirati woman to believe in her dreams and abilities and to believe that she can achieve what may seem impossible.

She says that the UAE, under its wise leadership, continues to demonstrate that nothing is impossible, and that ambition combined with hard work and self-belief can become reality.

Her future vision is to transform her café into a leading Emirati brand in the UAE, the Gulf region, and internationally, while also making it a destination for community support, a hub for innovative ideas, and a space where ideas can grow beyond being simple dreams.

Zainab speaks of her relationship with her homeland with deep pride, emphasizing that the UAE has repeatedly proven its ability to overcome challenges and difficulties regardless of their scale.

She says this is what generations of Emiratis have grown up witnessing since the era of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and continuing today through his sons and the wise leadership.

تؤمن زينب الموسوي بأن الرحلة الحقيقية نحو النجاح لا تبدأ دائماً بخطة واضحة، بل قد تبدأ بشغف صغير، وتجربة عابرة، وقرار شجاع بالاعتماد على الذات. فمنذ أن كانت تدرس علم النفس في مدينة ملبورن الأسترالية عام 2008، اختارت أن تبدأ العمل بدوام جزئي في أحد المقاهي إلى جانب دراستها الجامعية، لتفتح أمامها تلك التجربة باباً إلى عالم جديد لم تكن تعرف آنذاك أنه سيصبح جزءاً أساسياً من مسيرتها. واليوم، تعمل زينب كأخصائية نفسية ورائدة أعمال في مجال الأطعمة والمشروبات، وتمتلك مقهى ومخبزاً في إمارة دبي منذ عام 2018، لتجمع بين تخصصها الأكاديمي وشغفها بعالم الضيافة وريادة الأعمال، في رحلة امتدت عبر سنوات من التعلم والعمل والسفر واكتساب الخبرات من مختلف أنحاء العالم

من علم النفس إلى ريادة الأعمال

بدأت زينب رحلتها المهنية من ملبورن، حيث كانت تدرس درجة البكالوريوس في علم النفس، وفي الوقت نفسه تعمل بدوام جزئي في أحد المقاهي اعتماداً على نفسها، ومع مرور الوقت لم تكتفِ بتجربتها الأولى، بل واصلت تطوير نفسها وسافرت حول العالم وعملت في العديد من المقاهي والمطاعم العالمية والمخابز، متنقلة بين أدوار مختلفة كصانعة قهوة وشيف، لتكتسب خلال نحو عشر سنوات خبرات واسعة ومتنوعة في هذا المجال، وبالتوازي مع خبرتها العملية، واصلت مسارها الأكاديمي فأكملت درجة الماجستير في علوم النفس والعلوم المجتمعية، قبل أن تعود إلى دولة الإمارات عام 2018 حاملة معها خبرة طويلة وشغفاً متنامياً لتؤسس مشروعها الخاص (باك تو ذا مون)، ولم يكن اختيارها لهذا المسار وليد قرار عابر، بل جاء نتيجة سنوات من السفر والتجارب والتعرف إلى مهنيين من ثقافات متعددة، ومع كل تجربة جديدة كان شغفها بهذا المجال يزداد، حتى وجدت نفسها تستثمر فيه المزيد من الوقت والجهد وتواصل مسيرتها حتى اليوم بطموح لا يتوقف عند حدود ما حققته

حين تتحول الأزمات إلى فرص جديدة

لم تكن رحلة زينب خالية من التحديات، إلا أن بعض أصعب المراحل تحولت إلى نقاط تحول حقيقية في مسيرتها، وكان من أبرزها ما واجهته خلال فترة جائحة كوفيد، حين اعتقدت في مرحلة ما أنها قد لا تتمكن من الاستمرار، لكنها استطاعت تجاوز تلك الفترة الصعبة والخروج منها بإصرار أكبر على مواصلة الطريق، ومع التحديات الأخيرة المرتبطة بحالة عدم الاستقرار في المنطقة، واجهت زينب تحديات كبيرة أثرت بشكل مباشر في عملها، إلا أن هذه المرحلة دفعتها إلى اكتشاف جانب جديد من شخصيتها؛ جانب يصر على النجاح، ويبحث عن الحلول، ويعمل على خلق بيئة وآليات قادرة على مواجهة التحديات والتعامل معها بدل الاستسلام لها، ومن خلال مقهاها أسست زينب حملة مجتمعية هدفت إلى دعم المشاريع الوطنية وتحويل المكان إلى مساحة تساند أصحاب المشاريع وتساعدهم على تجاوز الظروف الصعبة، وقد ساهم هذا البرنامج بشكل كبير في دعم عدد من المشاريع المتضررة ومساعدتها على إيجاد حلول تتيح لها الاستمرار، وتقول زينب إن هذه التجربة أثبتت لها أن المشروع يمكن أن يكون أكثر من مجرد عمل تجاري، وأن يتحول إلى مساحة مجتمعية قادرة على تقديم الدعم واحتضان الأفكار والمساهمة في إيجاد حلول حقيقية خلال الأوقات الصعبة

لحظة أعادت إليها الأمل

من أكثر المواقف التي لا تزال عالقة في ذاكرتها تلك اللحظة التي شعرت فيها بفقدان الأمل خلال شهر مارس الماضي، مع بداية الأزمة، حين قررت أن تصارح الجميع بالتحديات التي تواجهها في عملها من خلال منصات التواصل الاجتماعي، لكن الاستجابة التي حصلت عليها تجاوزت كل توقعاتها، فقد تلقت قدراً كبيراً من الدعم والمساندة، وهو ما أثبت لها صلابة المجتمع الإماراتي وطيبته وقدرته على الوقوف إلى جانب أفراده في الأوقات الصعبة، وكانت تلك التجربة بالنسبة لها تذكيراً حقيقياً بأن الإنسان قد يواجه التحديات، لكنه لا يواجهها بالضرورة وحيداً، وأن المجتمعات المتماسكة قادرة على أن تمنح الأمل والقوة في أكثر اللحظات صعوبة، وتؤكد زينب أن المجتمع والقيادة كان لهما الأثر الأكبر في مسيرتها، خصوصاً خلال المراحل الصعبة، مشيرة إلى أنها، رغم كل التحديات التي واجهتها، لم تشعر يوماً بأنها وحيدة في حمل المسؤوليات والأعباء التي كانت تواجهها

المرأة الإماراتية.. طموح بلا سقف

ترى زينب أن المرأة الإماراتية اليوم تمثل قوة فاعلة في المجتمع، وأن الفرص المتاحة أمامها، إلى جانب الدعم المستمر من القيادة الرشيدة، جعلت أمامها مساحات واسعة للتعلم والنمو والنجاح، وتؤمن بأن المرأة الإماراتية أثبتت يوماً بعد يوم قدرتها على مواجهة التحديات والتطور من خلالها، وأنه لم يعد هناك مجال لا تستطيع المرأة الإماراتية أن تخوضه وتتميز فيه بدورها الفاعل، وتقول إن ما يميز التجربة الإماراتية هو أن المرأة لم تُمنح الفرصة فقط، بل حظيت بالثقة والتشجيع والدعم، وهو ما جعل سقف الطموح مفتوحاً أمامها
