Dr. Sharifa’s choice to specialize in mental health and rehabilitation was not simply a professional decision; it was a humanitarian mission she believed in from the beginning.
She realized early on that mental health support and early intervention could create a profound change in people’s lives—not only for children but for entire families.

“I believed that mental health and early intervention could completely change a person’s life, not only the child’s life but the entire family’s.”

Among her most notable achievements are earning her PhD in Education, becoming the first Emirati woman to obtain BCBA certification in Applied Behavior Analysis, and establishing Sharifa Yateem Rehabilitation Centre, which provides specialized services based on the best global practices.
She also founded Sharifa Yateem Consultancy, offering specialized training and consultation services for organizations and individuals.

One of the main challenges Dr. Sharifa faced in the early stages of her career was the limited community awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder and the importance of early intervention, along with the shortage of specialized national professionals in this vital field.
Establishing a specialized centre that provides services according to the highest international standards was also a major challenge requiring extensive planning, continuous effort, and a strong commitment to quality.
However, Dr. Sharifa faced these challenges with strong faith and determination. She believes success begins with faith in God, followed by continuous learning and refusing to surrender to obstacles.
