Siham Masoud Al Rashidi is one of the UAE’s inspiring role models, embodying resilience, determination, and the ability to overcome challenges. She lives with a physical disability resulting from polio, but she has never allowed her disability to define her life or limit her dreams. For more than 21 years, she has worked at the Dubai Land Department as a Senior Executive in the Customer Relations Department, continuing her professional journey with dedication and excellence.
She is a widow and the mother of her 18-year-old son, Abdullah, whom she describes as her greatest source of strength and the light of her life. Alongside her professional success, she has built an exceptional sporting career as an athlete with the Dubai Club for People of Determination and the UAE Paralympic Team in athletics and badminton. She served for four years as a member of the Asian Paralympic Players’ Council after being elected during the 2019 Asian Para Games in Indonesia, and she currently serves as a member of the World Para Athletics Athletes’ Committee for the next four years.
Since joining the Dubai Club for People of Determination in 2005, she has proudly represented the UAE in local, international, Asian, and Paralympic competitions, winning nearly 400 medals, including gold, silver, and bronze. She also represented the UAE at the London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016 Paralympic Games.

Professionally, one of the most significant milestones was receiving the Dubai Government Excellence Award in the “Unsung Hero” category in 2009. Meeting and shaking hands with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum remains one of the greatest moments of her life, reaffirming her belief that People of Determination can achieve excellence and serve society with distinction.
In sports, she proudly received the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Award for Women Athletes with Disabilities (2014–2015), an honor she considers a reflection of Her Highness’s commitment to supporting and empowering Emirati women. She also won the Outstanding Sports Excellence Award as Best Female Athlete among People of Determination in Individual Sports in 2019, alongside numerous international achievements that elevated the UAE’s reputation on the global sporting stage.
Personal Challenges: Strength Born from Pain
Despite her remarkable achievements, Siham’s journey was not without hardship. One of the most difficult moments in her life was the loss of her husband, Khamis, when their son Abdullah was only five months old.
She describes that period as a devastating shock, feeling as though life had come to a standstill. However, the support of her mother, sisters, and relatives gave her the strength to move forward. Her son Abdullah became her greatest source of inspiration and motivation.
Reflecting on that experience, she says:
