The Journey in Brief

I am a daughter of this nation, a country that believed in women’s capabilities, placed its trust in them, and opened before them horizons of knowledge, work, and leadership. From my early years, my passion for science shaped my path, driven by a deep belief that knowledge, even in its most intricate details, can create a real and lasting impact.

I studied Life Sciences and Chemistry, and continued my academic journey by earning a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences with distinction and honors from the United Arab Emirates University. During my research journey, I discovered a new strain of yeast that was registered in the United Kingdom. This achievement marked a pivotal milestone that strengthened my conviction that science is not an end in itself, but a tool for change and for shaping the future.

I began my professional journey in the field as a trainee at the Food Control Center of Al Ain Municipality, where I gained deep practical experience in regulatory and inspection work. At every stage, commitment and perseverance were the foundation of progress. I advanced through several positions, from Senior Microbiology Specialist to Director of Laboratories, and later led the Regulatory Control Sector for eight years during a critical foundational phase, before assuming my current role as Deputy Director General for Regulatory and Administrative Affairs at the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority.

Today, I lead an integrated system encompassing strategy, policies, corporate services, business continuity, and cybersecurity, while overseeing more than 387 employees who work as one team to serve the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and strengthen its food security and biosecurity systems.

My journey is not merely a career path, but an integrated experience built on a passion for science, continuous investment in learning, and the belief that hard work, when combined with a clear national vision, can create sustainable institutional impact and build a more prosperous future.

Inspiration in Choosing My Career Path

I drew inspiration for my professional path from the vision of our wise leadership, which has made food security and sustainable agriculture strategic pillars of the UAE’s future. This vision aligned with my deep passion for the sciences, particularly microbiology, chemistry, and environmental sciences, as they provide an integrated understanding of life and enable knowledge-based decision-making.

Over time, this passion evolved into a professional conviction that the agriculture and food sector represents a vital platform where scientific knowledge is transformed into policies, legislation, and regulatory systems that directly affect public health and quality of life. Every regulatory decision, every laboratory analysis, and every inspection procedure carries within it a national responsibility and a long-term impact.

I found myself drawn to this sector because it brings together science, management, legislation, and innovation. It enables the integration of scientific analysis with institutional leadership and teamwork toward a national goal: building a safe and sustainable food and agricultural system for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi that anticipates the future and is grounded in knowledge.

A Pivotal Milestone in My Journey

Leading the Regulatory Control Sector for eight years during the establishment phase of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority was one of the most significant milestones in my professional journey. This period represented a collaborative national responsibility during which the concepts of food and agricultural control were reshaped, and regulatory and legislative frameworks were developed in line with the strategic ambitions of the Emirate.

These efforts resulted in the development of an integrated regulatory system based on international standards, contributing to Abu Dhabi achieving a score of 94% in the Food Safety Index in 2015 and 99% in 2016, placing it first in the Middle East. These results were not merely numbers; they reflected the success of institutional work founded on a clear vision and disciplined execution.

I am also proud to have received the Abu Dhabi Award for Distinguished Government Performance in the category of Distinguished Employee at the Emirate level, in addition to the Best Chief Executive Officer in Food Safety in the Middle East Award for 2024 from the British organization “CEO Today.” These honors affirm that dedication is recognized and that leadership grounded in commitment and responsibility makes a difference.

I also received the Best Chief Executive Officer in the Middle East in Food Safety Award in 2024 from the British organization “CEO Today,” which recognizes individuals who demonstrate a high level of commitment to enhancing food safety standards across the Middle East.

Challenges and How I Overcame Them

Challenges were not passing phases in my career; they were an integral part of building my leadership experience. The most significant challenges were associated with managing institutional transformation, organizational restructuring, and ensuring continuity of performance in complex and rapidly changing environments.

One of the most important challenges was maintaining the international accreditations for inspection operations following the separation of the laboratories from the regulatory authority. This strategic challenge required the implementation of an integrated risk management and quality assurance system. This approach contributed to maintaining existing accreditations and expanding their scope, thereby strengthening the reliability of the regulatory system and its international standing.

Overseeing sectors comprising hundreds of employees from diverse specializations was also an advanced leadership experience. It required balancing empowerment with accountability, building national capabilities, and establishing a culture focused on performance and results. These experiences strengthened my conviction that true leadership is demonstrated through managing change and transforming challenges into opportunities and sustainable achievements.

Inspiring Stories I Will Never Forget

One of the experiences I am most proud of in my professional journey was the election of the United Arab Emirates as the geographical representative of the Near East Region on the Executive Committee of the Codex Alimentarius Commission.

This achievement was not the result of a momentary effort or a short electoral campaign, but rather the outcome of continuous work and perseverance on Codex Alimentarius matters, active participation in international committees, and the building of professional relationships based on competence, credibility, and mutual trust.

I remember the sense of pride and responsibility I felt when the result was announced, because I knew that this victory did not represent an individual or a particular entity; it represented the United Arab Emirates and its growing role in influencing international food policies and standards. The achievement was even more significant because the competition was with countries that have a long history in this field.

What inspired me most about this experience was that it confirmed to me that active engagement, hard work, and sustained commitment are capable of creating real influence at the international level. It also reinforced my belief that the United Arab Emirates has become a trusted partner and a respected voice within international organizations, and that we are capable not only of participating in decision-making, but also of leading it.

This experience will remain deeply engraved in my memory because it was not merely a victory in securing an international seat; it was a moment that embodied the value of perseverance, institutional work, and honorable representation of the United Arab Emirates on the global stage—and I was privileged to be part of it.

The Role of Emirati Women Today

Emirati women are living through an unprecedented historic era, thanks to the vision and support of the “Mother of the Nation,” Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, who established women’s empowerment as a cornerstone of national development. With the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, women’s empowerment has become a firmly established institutional approach, and the presence of women in leadership positions has become both natural and essential.

This journey is further strengthened by the support of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Authority’s Board of Directors, who believes in women’s ability to lead vital sectors and shape strategic policies. Emirati women today are not merely part of the development journey; they represent its beating heart and a powerful driving force.

My message to every Emirati girl and young woman is: believe in your abilities, raise the ceiling of your ambitions, and never hesitate to venture into new fields, no matter how challenging they may seem. Invest in knowledge, hold firmly to sincerity and dedication, and move forward with confidence and pride in your national identity.

You are not merely a participant in the journey of development; you are a pillar of the present and a creator of the future. درستُ علوم الحياة والكيمياء، ثم واصلت مسيرتي الأكاديمية بالحصول على درجة الماجستير في علوم البيئة بامتياز مع مرتبة الشرف من جامعة الإمارات. وخلال رحلتي البحثية، اكتشفت سلالة جديدة من الخمائر تم تسجيلها في المملكة المتحدة، وهو إنجاز مثّل محطة مفصلية عززت قناعتي بأن العلم ليس غاية بحد ذاته، بل أداة للتغيير وصناعة المستقبل

بدأت رحلتي المهنية من الميدان كمتدربة في مركز رقابة الأغذية ببلدية العين، حيث اكتسبت خبرة عملية عميقة في العمل الرقابي. ومع كل مرحلة، كان الالتزام والمثابرة أساس التقدم. وتدرجت في عدة مناصب، من أخصائية أولى في الميكروبيولوجيا إلى مديرة لإدارة المختبرات، ثم توليت قيادة قطاع الرقابة لمدة ثمانية أعوام خلال مرحلة تأسيسية مهمة، وصولًا إلى مهامي الحالية نائبًا للمدير العام للشؤون التنظيمية والإدارية في هيئة أبوظبي للزراعة والسلامة الغذائية

اليوم، أقود منظومة متكاملة تضم الاستراتيجية والسياسات والخدمات المؤسسية واستمرارية الأعمال والأمن السيبراني، وأشرف على أكثر من 387 موظفًا يعملون بروح الفريق الواحد لخدمة إمارة أبوظبي، وتعزيز منظومتي الأمن الغذائي والأمن الحيوي

الإلهام في اختيار المسار المهني

استلهمت مساري المهني من رؤية قيادتنا الرشيدة التي جعلت الأمن الغذائي والزراعة المستدامة من الركائز الاستراتيجية لمستقبل دولة الإمارات. وقد تلاقت هذه الرؤية مع شغفي العميق بالعلوم الدقيقة، لا سيما الميكروبيولوجيا والكيمياء وعلوم البيئة، لما تتيحه من فهم متكامل للحياة وصناعة القرارات المبنية على المعرفة

ومع مرور الوقت، تحوّل هذا الشغف إلى قناعة مهنية بأن قطاع الزراعة والغذاء يشكّل منصة حيوية تتحول فيها المعرفة العلمية إلى سياسات وتشريعات ومنظومات رقابية تمس صحة المجتمع وجودة الحياة بشكل مباشر. فكل قرار تنظيمي، وكل تحليل مخبري، وكل إجراء رقابي، يحمل في جوهره مسؤولية وطنية وأثرًا طويل المدى

وجدت نفسي في هذا القطاع لأنه يجمع بين العلم والإدارة والتشريع والابتكار، ويتيح الجمع بين التحليل العلمي والقيادة المؤسسية، والعمل ضمن فرق تسعى لتحقيق هدف وطني يتمثل في بناء منظومة غذائية وزراعية آمنة ومستدامة لإمارة أبوظبي، تستشرف المستقبل وترتكز على المعرفة

محطة مفصلية في المسيرة

تُعد قيادة قطاع الرقابة لمدة ثمانية أعوام، خلال مرحلة تأسيس جهاز أبوظبي للرقابة الغذائية، إحدى أبرز المحطات المفصلية في مسيرتي المهنية. فقد مثّلت تلك المرحلة دورًا وطنيًا تشاركيًا أُعيدت خلاله صياغة مفاهيم الرقابة الغذائية والزراعية، وتطوير الأطر التنظيمية والتشريعية بما يواكب الطموحات الاستراتيجية للإمارة

وأثمر هذا الجهد عن بناء منظومة رقابية متكاملة تستند إلى المعايير الدولية، ما أسهم في تحقيق إمارة أبوظبي نسبة 94% في مؤشر السلامة الغذائية عام 2015، و99% في عام 2016، وتصدرها المركز الأول على مستوى الشرق الأوسط. وهي نتائج لم تكن أرقامًا فحسب، بل انعكاسًا لنجاح العمل المؤسسي القائم على الرؤية الواضحة والتنفيذ المنضبط

كما أعتز بحصولي على جائزة أبوظبي للأداء الحكومي المتميز – فئة الموظف المتميز على مستوى الإمارة، إضافة إلى جائزة أفضل رئيس تنفيذي في مجال السلامة الغذائية في الشرق الأوسط لعام 2024 من مؤسسة «الرئيس التنفيذي اليوم» البريطانية، وهي تكريمات تؤكد أن العطاء يُقدّر، وأن القيادة المرتكزة على الالتزام والمسؤولية تصنع الفرق

بالإضافة إلى حصولي على جائزة أفضل رئيس تنفيذي في الشرق الأوسط في مجال السلامة الغذائية في عام ألفين وأربعة وعشرين، من خلال مؤسسة الرئيس التنفيذي اليوم البريطانية، حيث تُمنح هذه الجائزة للشخصيات التي تُظهر التزاماً عالياً بتعزيز معايير السلامة الغذائية في منطقة الشرق الأوسط

التحديات وكيف تم تجاوزها

لم تكن التحديات مراحل عابرة في مسيرتي، بل جزءًا أصيلًا من بناء التجربة القيادية. فقد ارتبطت أبرز التحديات بإدارة التحولات المؤسسية، وإعادة الهيكلة التنظيمية، وضمان استمرارية الأداء في بيئات تتسم بالتعقيد والتغيير

ومن أهم تلك التحديات الحفاظ على الاعتمادات الدولية لعمليات التفتيش عقب فصل المختبرات عن الجهاز الرقابي، وهو تحدٍّ استراتيجي تطلّب تطبيق منظومة متكاملة لإدارة المخاطر وضمان الجودة. وقد أسهم هذا النهج في الحفاظ على الاعتمادات القائمة وتوسيع نطاقها، بما عزز موثوقية المنظومة الرقابية ومكانتها الدولية

كما مثّل الإشراف على قطاعات تضم مئات الموظفين من تخصصات متنوعة تجربة قيادية متقدمة، تطلّبت الموازنة بين التمكين والمساءلة، وبناء القدرات الوطنية، وترسيخ ثقافة الأداء والنتائج. وقد عززت هذه التجارب قناعتي بأن القيادة الحقيقية تتجلى في إدارة التغيير وتحويل التحديات إلى فرص وإنجازات مستدامة

قصص ملهمة لا تُنسى

من أكثر القصص التي أعتز بها في مسيرتي المهنية انتخاب دولة الإمارات ممثلاً جغرافياً لإقليم الشرق الأدنى في اللجنة التنفيذية للدستور الغذائي
لم يكن هذا الإنجاز نتيجة جهد لحظة أو حملة انتخابية قصيرة، بل ثمرة من العمل المتواصل والمثابرة في ملفات الدستور الغذائي، والمشاركة الفاعلة في اللجان الدولية، وبناء علاقات مهنية قائمة على الكفاءة والمصداقية والثقة المتبادلة
أتذكر شعور الفخر والمسؤولية عندما تم الإعلان عن النتيجة، لأنني كنت أدرك أن هذا الفوز لا يمثل شخصاً أو جهة بعينها، بل يمثل دولة الإمارات ودورها المتنامي في التأثير على السياسات والمعايير الغذائية الدولية. وكان الأمر أكثر أهمية لأن المنافسة كانت مع دول تمتلك تاريخاً طويلاً في هذا المجال
أكثر ما ألهمني في هذه التجربة هو أنها أكدت لي أن الحضور الفاعل والعمل الجاد والالتزام المستمر قادر على صناعة التأثير الحقيقي على المستوى الدولي. كما عززت قناعتي بأن دولة الإمارات أصبحت شريكاً موثوقاً وصاحب رأي مسموع في المنظمات الدولية، وأننا قادرون ليس فقط على المشاركة في صناعة القرار، بل أيضاً على قيادته
هذه التجربة ستبقى محفورة في ذاكرتي لأنها لم تكن مجرد فوز بمقعد دولي، بل كانت لحظة جسدت قيمة المثابرة والعمل المؤسسي والتمثيل المشرف لدولة الإمارات على الساحة العالمية وكنت أنا جزءً منها

دور المرأة الإماراتية اليوم

تعيش المرأة الإماراتية اليوم مرحلة تاريخية غير مسبوقة، بفضل رؤية ودعم «أم الإمارات» سمو الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك، التي أرست تمكين المرأة كركيزة للتنمية الوطنية. ومع دعم صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، أصبح تمكين المرأة نهجًا مؤسسيًا راسخًا، وحضورها في مواقع القيادة أمرًا طبيعيًا وضروريًا
