Success Is Not a Position… It Is the Impact You Leave Behind
It is my pleasure to introduce myself. I am Mona Rashid bin Tahnoon, a Member of the Federal National Council.
To me, success has never been about reaching a prestigious position or carrying an impressive title. Rather, it has always been about the positive impact I leave in people’s lives. Since childhood, I have believed that a person can make a difference wherever they are, provided they love what they do and dedicate themselves to it with sincerity.
The Beginnings That Shaped My Character
My journey began in the classroom, where I was a student who loved both learning and life. I was committed to academic excellence while actively participating in sports, cultural, educational, and extracurricular activities and competitions. Even then, I was searching for opportunities to give my very best.
By nature, I was energetic and mischievous, yet highly organized. I managed my time carefully, ensuring that nothing interfered with my studies and revision, no matter how tempting other activities were. Afterwards, I would enjoy spending time with my brothers and sisters.

“I’ve Never Had a Student Like Mona”
One memory that remains close to my heart is the words of my mathematics teacher, who often said:
“I’ve never had a student like Mona.”
Perhaps that is why my love for mathematics has remained with me throughout my life.

My Greatest Achievement: People’s Trust and Affection
Throughout more than three decades of public service, I held numerous responsibilities and leadership positions.
Yet if someone asked me today about my greatest achievement, I would not mention a title or an award. Instead, I would proudly say that my greatest accomplishment is earning people’s trust, respect, and affection, and the lasting impact I have left in the hearts of those I served and worked alongside.
When Life Led Me to a Greater Purpose
When I entered university, my dream was to become an engineer—a profession I still deeply admire today.
However, life guided me along a different path. I chose to study Public Administration and Political Science, a decision that completely changed the course of my life. At first, I believed I had moved away from my dream, but I later realized that God was leading me toward a greater purpose—one in which I found my true passion and calling.
From Employment to Belonging
I joined the Ministry of Social Affairs, now known as the Ministry of Community Development. I never considered myself merely an employee fulfilling official duties. Instead, I felt connected to every family across the United Arab Emirates.
I carried people’s concerns as if they were my own, celebrated their successes, and believed that every service request represented not just an administrative procedure but an opportunity to leave a positive mark in someone’s life.

My Greatest Achievement: People’s Trust and Affection

A Smile Can Be the Greatest Service
One unforgettable experience involved an elderly woman who entered my office carrying heavy emotional burdens. As always, I welcomed her warmly with a sincere smile.
She paused, looked at me, and said:
“May God keep that smile on your face forever. I came here deeply worried, but the moment I saw your smile, my heart felt at ease.”
That moment profoundly touched me and reminded me that sometimes the greatest service we can offer another person is a genuine smile, even before making a decision or providing assistance.
Challenges That Built Strength
Like everyone, my journey included challenges. However, I have always believed that patience and perseverance create success.
I never viewed obstacles as the end of the road. Instead, they became valuable lessons that strengthened my character and expanded my experience.
Perhaps this is why I rarely dwell on difficulties, because to this day I remain proud to consider myself a devoted daughter of the Ministry of Community Development and cherish every year I spent serving there.
Serving My Nation from a New Platform
When I decided to run for membership in the Federal National Council, it was never motivated by the pursuit of office.
It was driven by a sincere desire to continue serving my country from a different platform.
I never hesitated, because my family believed in me completely and saw this step as a natural continuation of the work I had devoted my life to.
My Mother and My Sister: My Greatest Support
My beloved mother, through her heartfelt prayers, and my eldest sister, Fatima, have had a profound influence on my life.
Fatima has always been my role model and one of the first people to believe in my abilities. She stood beside me throughout my election campaign, and I continue to cherish her confidence and encouragement.
I am equally grateful to my brothers, whose response when I announced my candidacy was simply:
“You deserve this nomination, and we are confident that the people will elect you.”
A Victory That Carried an Unfulfilled Wish
The most emotional moment of my life was hearing the announcement that I had been elected to the Federal National Council.
My first thought was not of victory itself.
Instead, I wished my late father had been there to share that unforgettable moment with me.
He had always believed in me and encouraged me to continue serving people.

My Father’s Words Became a Lifelong Inspiration
A few months before he passed away, my father questioned my decision to retire.
He said:
“Why? You are still young and energetic, and people love you.”
When I explained that I simply wanted to rest, he smiled and replied:
“Rest, my daughter… God willing, something even better awaits you.”
Shortly afterwards, I was elected to the Federal National Council.
His words have remained with me ever since, like a final message of hope he left behind.
The School of Sheikh Zayed
Among the individuals who have shaped my life most profoundly is the Founding Father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may he rest in peace.
From his leadership, we learned that serving humanity is an honor, that our nation is our greatest treasure, and that generosity is a way of life.
We are the children of Zayed, carrying these values wherever we go.
Emirati Women: Partners in Building the Future
Today, I look at Emirati women with immense pride.
Thanks to the unwavering support of our wise leadership, they have become essential partners in the nation’s development, assuming leadership roles, participating in decision-making, and contributing significantly to shaping the UAE’s future.
A Message to Every Emirati Girl
My message to every Emirati girl is simple:
Believe in yourself. Never allow anyone to define the limits of your dreams.
Work hard, continue learning, embrace new experiences, and never fear change.
Success never comes by chance—it is earned through sincerity, dedication, patience, and faith that every individual has a unique contribution to make to their country.
Ambition Never Ends
My aspirations continue.
As long as I am able to give, I will continue seeking every opportunity to serve my nation, contribute to my community, and share my experience with future generations.
For me, serving the UAE is not a stage in life—it is a lifelong mission.
Emirati Women’s Day: Gratitude and Commitment
On Emirati Women’s Day, I extend my deepest gratitude to our wise leadership for believing in and empowering women, to my family for standing beside me throughout every stage of my journey, and to every teacher, leader, colleague, and mentor who believed in me and helped shape my path.

Positive Impact Is the True Legacy
If someone were to ask me about the greatest achievement of my life, I would never mention a title or position.
Instead, I would simply say:
“My greatest achievement is that I tried to leave a positive impact on people’s lives and serve my country with sincerity.”
Positions change.
Positive impact remains.
It is the true legacy we leave for future generations.
Every Stage Prepared Me for the Next
Looking back today, I realize that every chapter of my life prepared me for what followed.
No experience was meaningless.
Every step strengthened my character and taught me another valuable lesson.

This year’s Emirati Women’s Day theme, announced by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak “We’ll Show We’re the Strongest and the Best” deeply resonates with me.
Nationally, true strength means remaining loyal to our country regardless of our position and continuously contributing to the nation’s remarkable journey.
To me, this is not simply a slogan for a national occasion.
It is a philosophy of life—a call to continue learning, working, improving ourselves, and proving worthy of the trust our wise leadership has placed in us.

Don’t Wait for Opportunities—Create Them
If I were asked today what message I would offer every woman aspiring to become among “the strongest and the best,” I would say:
Do not wait for opportunities create them.
Do not wait for others to draw your path—draw it yourself through knowledge, integrity, determination, and confidence.
Never fear failure or new experiences.
Every experience teaches a lesson.
Every setback prepares you to rise again.
Remain sincere to yourself, dedicated to your work, and let success become a means of serving your country and community rather than merely a personal achievement.
A person’s true value lies not in what they possess, but in what they contribute, and not in what people say about them, but in the impact they leave behind.
Mother of the Nation: The School of Empowerment
It is impossible to speak about Emirati women without expressing heartfelt gratitude to the woman who, after God’s grace, has been instrumental in this remarkable journey:

She has inspired Emirati women to understand that ambition and authenticity complement one another, that success is fulfilled through service to the nation, and that women’s empowerment is not merely a slogan but a comprehensive national vision.

After many years of service, I now understand more than ever that life’s greatest achievement is not measured by titles, degrees, or positions.
It is measured by living a life of service being beneficial to others, true to oneself, and loyal to one’s homeland.
My ambition continues.
As long as I am able to contribute, I will continue serving the UAE, supporting my community, and passing on my experience to future generations.
Because I firmly believe that serving the United Arab Emirates is not a chapter that ends—it is a lifelong mission and a responsibility renewed with every new day.

سعادة منى راشد بن طحنون.. الأثر الجميل إرثٌ إماراتي يبقى في مسيرة وطنٍ يصنع المستقبل بالإنسان والعطاء

النجاح ليس منصباً… بل أثر..يسعدني ان اقدم نفسي لكم.. انا منى راشد بن طحنون – عضو المجلس الوطني الاتحادي..لم يكن النجاح بالنسبة لي يومًا منصبًا أصل إليه، ولا لقبًا أحمله، بل كان دائمًا ذلك الأثر الذي أتركه في حياة الناس. فمنذ طفولتي، كنت أؤمن أن الإنسان يستطيع أن يصنع فرقًا أينما كان إذا أحب ما يقوم به وأخلص فيه

بدايات صنعت الشخصية

بدأت رحلتي على مقاعد الدراسة، حيث كنت طالبة عاشقة للعلم والحياة في آنٍ واحد. كنت أحرص على التفوق الدراسي، وأشارك في مختلف الأنشطة الرياضية والثقافية والتربوية والمسابقات، وكأنني أبحث منذ ذلك الوقت عن مساحة أقدم فيها أفضل ما لدي. كنت مشاغبة بطبيعتي ولكنني مميزة، و في الوقت نفسه منظمة جدًا، أضع لكل شيء وقتًا، فلا أتجاوز وقت الدراسة والمراجعة مهما كانت المغريات، ثم أستمتع بوقتي مع إخوتي وأخواتي

«لم تمر عليّ طالبة مثل منى»

ومن الذكريات التي ما زالت تسكن قلبي، كلمات معلمة الرياضيات التي كانت تردد دائمًا: «لم تمر عليّ طالبة مثل منى» وربما لهذا السبب ظل عشقي للرياضيات يرافقني حتى اليوم

حين قادني الطريق إلى رسالة أكبر

عندما التحقت بالجامعة، كان حلمي أن أصبح مهندسة، وما زلت حتى اليوم أحتفظ بمحبة خاصة لهذا التخصص

لكن الحياة قادتني إلى طريق مختلف، فقد اخترت دراسة الإدارة العامة والعلوم السياسية، وهو القرار الذي غيّر مسار حياتي بالكامل. في البداية ظننت أنني ابتعدت عن حلمي، لكنني اكتشفت لاحقًا أن الله كان يقودني إلى رسالة أكبر، رسالة وجدت نفسي فيها بكل حب وشغف

من الوظيفة إلى الانتماء

التحقت بوزارة الشؤون الاجتماعية، التي أصبحت لاحقًا وزارة تنمية المجتمع، وهناك لم أشعر يومًا أنني موظفة تؤدي واجبًا وظيفيًا، بل شعرت بأنني أنتمي إلى كل أسرة في دولة الإمارات. كنت أحمل هموم الناس، وأفرح لنجاحاتهم، وأؤمن أن كل معاملة ليست مجرد إجراء، بل فرصة لأترك أثرًا طيبًا في حياة إنسان

أعظم إنجاز… محبة الناس وثقتهم

خلال أكثر من ثلاثة عقود من العمل، تقلدت مسؤوليات ومناصب مختلفة، لكن إذا سألني أحد اليوم عن أكبر إنجاز حققته، فلن أذكر منصبًا ولا شهادة، بل سأقول بكل فخر إن أعظم إنجاز أعتز به هو محبة الناس وثقتهم، والأثر الذي تركته في قلوب المتعاملين وزملاء العمل. فالمناصب قد تتغير، أما المحبة الصادقة فتبقى

ابتسامة قد تكون أعظم خدمة

وأكثر المواقف التي لا تغيب عن ذاكرتي، كان مع امرأة كبيرة في السن دخلت إلى مكتبي وهي تحمل همومًا كثيرة. وكعادتي، استقبلتها بابتسامة وترحيب صادق. توقفت، ونظرت إليّ، ثم قالت: «يا رب… هذه الابتسامة ما تفارق وجهك. دخلت عليك وأنا مهمومة، لكن عندما رأيت ابتسامتك انشرح صدري.» يومها تأثرت كثيرًا، وأدركت أن الابتسامة الصادقة قد تكون أحيانًا أعظم خدمة نقدمها للناس قبل أي قرار أو إجراء

التحديات… دروس تمنح القوة

لم تكن رحلتي خالية من التحديات، لكنني كنت دائمًا أؤمن أن الصبر والإصرار يصنعان الفرق. لم أنظر يومًا إلى الصعوبات على أنها نهاية الطريق، بل كانت بالنسبة لي دروسًا تمنحني قوة وخبرة أكبر. وربما لهذا السبب لا أحب أن أتحدث عن الجوانب السلبية في مسيرتي، لأنني ما زلت حتى اليوم أعتبر نفسي ابنةً مخلصةً لوزارة تنمية المجتمع، وأفتخر بكل السنوات التي قضيتها فيها

من خدمة الناس إلى خدمة الوطن من موقع آخر

وعندما قررت الترشح لعضوية المجلس الوطني الاتحادي، لم يكن ذلك بحثًا عن منصب، بل رغبة في أن أواصل خدمة وطني من موقع آخر. لم أتردد في اتخاذ القرار، لأنني وجدت أسرتي كلها تؤمن بي وتدعمني، وكانوا يرون في هذه الخطوة امتدادًا طبيعيًا لما قدمته طوال سنوات عملي

أمي وأختي… سند الرحلة

وكان لامي الحبيبة ودعواتها الصادقه ولأختي الكبرى، فاطمة، أثر كبير في حياتي. فهي قدوتي الأولى، وأكثر من آمن بقدراتي، وكانت سندي الحقيقي خلال رحلتي الانتخابية، وما زلت أعتز بدعمها وثقتها التي منحتني قوة كبيرة. ولا انسى ايضا اخوتي الذين كانوا ردهم لي جميعا انت تستحقين الترشيح وواثقين من انتخاب الشعب لك

فوز حمل معه أمنية غائبة

أما اللحظة التي لا أستطيع الحديث عنها دون أن يمتلئ قلبي بالمشاعر، فهي لحظة إعلان فوزي بعضوية المجلس الوطني الاتحادي. لم يكن أول ما خطر ببالي هو الفوز نفسه، بل تمنيت لو أن والدي، رحمه الله، كان حاضرًا ليشاركني تلك اللحظة. كان دائمًا فخورًا بي، ويشجعني على الاستمرار في خدمة الناس

كلمات الأب التي تحولت إلى رسالة أمل

أتذكر قبل رحيله بأشهر، عندما استغرب قراري بالتقاعد وقال لي: «لماذا؟ أنتِ ما زلتِ صغيرة ونشيطة، والناس يحبونك» وعندما أخبرته أنني أريد أن أرتاح قليلًا، ابتسم وقال: «ارتاحي يا ابنتي… سيكون لك مكان أفضل بإذن الله» وبعد فترة قصيرة، تحقق ذلك بالفوز بعضوية المجلس الوطني الاتحادي، فأصبحت كلماته بالنسبة لي ذكرى لا تفارق قلبي، وكأنها كانت رسالة أمل تركها لي قبل رحيله

مدرسة زايد… قيم لا تنتهي

ومن الشخصيات التي كان لها أعظم الأثر في تكويني، المغفور له بإذن الله الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان، طيب الله ثراه. فقد تعلمنا من مدرسته أن خدمة الإنسان شرف، وأن الوطن أغلى ما نملك، وأن العطاء أسلوب حياة. نحن أبناء زايد، نحمل هذه القيم معنا أينما ذهبنا

المرأة الإماراتية… شريكة في صناعة المستقبل

وأنا أنظر اليوم إلى المرأة الإماراتية بكل فخر. فقد أثبتت أنها شريك أساسي في مسيرة التنمية، بفضل الدعم الكبير الذي وفرته لها قيادتنا الرشيدة، فأصبحت حاضرة في مختلف الميادين، تتولى المسؤولية، وتشارك في صناعة القرار، وتسهم في بناء مستقبل وطنها

رسالة إلى كل فتاة إماراتية

ورسالتي إلى كل فتاة إماراتية هي أن تؤمن بنفسها، وألا تجعل أحدًا يرسم حدود أحلامها. اجتهدي، وتعلمي، ولا تخافي من التجربة أو التغيير. فالنجاح لا يأتي صدفة، بل هو ثمرة الإخلاص، والعمل، والصبر، والإيمان بأن لكل إنسان رسالة يستطيع أن يقدمها لوطنه

طموح لا يتوقف

أما طموحي، فما زال مستمرًا. فما دمت قادرة على العطاء، فسأظل أبحث عن كل فرصة أخدم بها وطني ومجتمعي، وأسهم في نقل خبرتي إلى الأجيال القادمة، لأن خدمة الوطن بالنسبة لي ليست مرحلة، بل رسالة عمر

يوم المرأة الإماراتية… امتنان وعهد بالعطاء

وفي يوم المرأة الإماراتية، أتوجه بكل الشكر والعرفان إلى قيادتنا الرشيدة التي آمنت بالمرأة ومكنتها، وإلى أسرتي التي كانت السند الأول في كل محطة، وإلى كل معلم وقائد وزميل آمن بي، وأسهم في تشكيل هذه الرحلة

الأثر الجميل هو الإرث الحقيقي

وأختم بكلمة أؤمن بها من أعماق قلبي: إذا سألني أحد يومًا عن أعظم إنجاز في حياتي، فلن أذكر منصبًا ولا لقبًا، بل سأقول إن أعظم ما أعتز به هو أنني حاولت أن أترك أثرًا طيبًا في حياة الناس، وأن أخدم وطني بإخلاص. فالمناصب قد تتغير، أما الأثر الجميل فيبقى، وهو الإرث الحقيقي الذي نتركه للأجيال من بعدنا

كل مرحلة كانت تهيئني لما بعدها

وأنا أنظر اليوم إلى مسيرة حياتي، أجد أن كل مرحلة مررت بها كانت تهيئني لما بعدها. لم تكن هناك محطة عابرة أو تجربة بلا معنى، بل كانت كل خطوة تضيف إلى شخصيتي شيئًا جديدًا، وتعلمني درسًا جديدًا في الحياة

ولعل هذا هو المعنى الذي استوقفني كثيرًا عندما أعلنت سمو الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك “أم الإمارات” شعار يوم المرأة الإماراتية لهذا العام: “بنظهر الأقوى والأفضل” وطنيًا، فأرى أن القوة الحقيقية تكمن في أن يبقى الإنسان وفيًا لوطنه مهما تبدلت المواقع، وأن يكون همه الأول أن يضيف لبنة جديدة في مسيرة هذا الوطن الذي منح أبناءه وبناته فرصًا لا حدود لها للعطاء والتميز، ولذلك، فإن شعار “بنظهر الأقوى والأفضل” بالنسبة لي ليس شعارًا لمناسبة وطنية فحسب، بل منهج حياة، ورسالة تدعونا جميعًا إلى أن نواصل التعلم، والعمل، والتطوير، وأن نكون دائمًا أهلًا للثقة التي أولتنا إياها قيادتنا الرشيدة

لا تنتظري الفرصة… اصنعيها

وإذا سألني أحد اليوم: ما الرسالة التي أوجهها لكل امرأة تطمح لأن تكون من “الأقوى والأفضل”؟، فسأقول لها: لا تنتظري الفرصة… اصنعيها، ولا تنتظري من الآخرين أن يرسموا لك طريقك… بل ارسمـيه بعلمك، وأخلاقك، وإصرارك، وإيمانك بنفسك، لا تخافي من التجربة، ولا من الفشل، فكل تجربة تمنحك خبرة، وكل تعثر يعلمك كيف تنهضين من جديد، كوني صادقة مع نفسك، مخلصة في عملك، واجعلي النجاح وسيلة لخدمة وطنك ومجتمعك، لا غاية شخصية فقط، فالقيمة الحقيقية للإنسان ليست فيما يملكه، وإنما فيما يقدمه، وليس فيما يقال عنه، بل فيما يتركه من أثر في حياة الآخرين

أم الإمارات… مدرسة التمكين والثقة

ولا يمكنني أن أتحدث عن المرأة الإماراتية دون أن أتوقف بكل امتنان أمام صاحبة الفضل بعد الله في هذه المسيرة المباركة

سمو الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك “أم الإمارات”

لقد كانت سموها، وما زالت، المدرسة التي تعلمت منها المرأة الإماراتية أن الطموح لا يتعارض مع الأصالة، وأن النجاح لا يكتمل إلا بخدمة الوطن، وأن تمكين المرأة ليس شعارًا، بل مشروع وطني متكامل، أثمر أجيالًا من النساء اللواتي يحملن مسؤولياتهن بكفاءة واقتدار في مختلف المجالات

إن ما وصلت إليه المرأة الإماراتية اليوم ثمرة رؤية بعيدة المدى، وإيمان راسخ من سموها بأن المرأة شريك أساسي في بناء المجتمع وصناعة المستقبل، ومن هذا المنطلق، أتوجه إلى سموها بكل مشاعر التقدير والعرفان، وأقول: شكرًا لأنكِ لم تصنعي فرصًا للمرأة الإماراتية فحسب، بل صنعتِ الثقة في داخلها. شكرًا لأنكِ آمنتِ بأن المرأة قادرة على أن تكون قائدة، وصانعة قرار، وشريكة في نهضة وطنها. ونعاهد سموكِ أن نبقى أوفياء لهذه الثقة، وأن نواصل العمل بإخلاص، حتى تظل المرأة الإماراتية نموذجًا للعطاء والتميز، وتجسد في كل يوم معنى شعار: بنظهر الأقوى والأفضل

خدمة الإمارات… رسالة عمر

واليوم، وبعد رحلة امتدت لسنوات طويلة، أدرك أكثر من أي وقت مضى أن أجمل ما يمكن أن يحققه الإنسان ليس كثرة المناصب، ولا عدد الشهادات، ولا الألقاب التي يحملها، وإنما أن يعيش حياةً يكون فيها نافعًا للناس، صادقًا مع نفسه، ومخلصًا لوطنه، أما طموحي، فما زال مستمرًا، فما دمت قادرة على العطاء، فسأظل أبحث عن كل فرصة أخدم بها وطني، وأسهم من خلالها في خدمة أبناء مجتمعي، وأنقل ما تعلمته من خبرات إلى الأجيال القادمة، لأنني أؤمن أن خدمة الإمارات ليست مرحلة تنتهي، بل رسالة عمر، ومسؤولية تتجدد مع كل يوم
