Amal Abdullah Almessabi is an ambitious Emirati woman, mother, wife, volunteer, consultant, and internationally certified career and personal guidance coach. She aspires to contribute to creating positive change for the future.
She has more than 20 years of experience in the private sector, covering banking services, insurance, contracting, human resources, Emiratization programs, training, and career guidance.
She began her professional career as a clerk at an insurance company with a salary of AED 4,000. At a time when only a small number of Emiratis were joining the private sector, her ambition and commitment to continuous learning enabled her to progress and develop professionally, eventually taking on roles including Bank Manager, Emiratization Manager, Consultant, and Internationally Certified Career and Personal Guidance Coach.
Her passion for continuous learning, her desire to help others achieve their goals in areas where they can excel, and her ambition for excellence inspired her career path. Among her key strengths is her belief that nothing is impossible. She has the ability to create positive change, overcome challenges, and anticipate future needs, drawing inspiration from the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership, the evolving needs of the labor market, and future foresight.
One of the most significant achievements in her professional life was being selected in 2019 for the UAE Government Leaders Programme in the Executive Leaders category by the UAE Cabinet. She was among 12 Emiratis selected from 6,000 applicants based on their career journeys, achievements, and leadership skills. She was also among the few participants selected from the private sector. The programme contributed significantly to developing her leadership capabilities, as she learned from ministers, senior officials, and world-renowned universities. She graduated with a certificate bearing the signature of her leader and role model, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
This experience contributed to many achievements throughout her professional journey, first as a Bank Manager and later as an Emiratization Manager, where she contributed to increasing the employment of Emirati nationals, training them, attracting them to the private sector, and supporting their retention. This was particularly evident during her work in career guidance with the Emirates Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis), where she provided guidance to thousands of Emirati job seekers and private-sector employees.
On a personal level, completing her university and postgraduate education and obtaining numerous professional certifications is among her most significant achievements. She initially held only a high school certificate, while at the same time being a mother and wife with very limited financial resources. Her husband was the sole breadwinner of the family. In order to continue her education, she sold her gold jewelry, while her husband sold his car and a plot of land he owned. At the time, she promised him that this would be an investment that would never lose value—the investment in education—and that she would repay what they had sacrificed many times over. And she did.
One of the greatest challenges she faced was balancing work, ambition, and family life. She would go to work, then attend university and study, return home late, and still have her children waiting for her to help them with their studies, spend time with them, and manage household and social responsibilities. Through time management, her husband’s support, and, above all, determination and ambition, she was able to overcome these challenges.
We believe that Emirati women play a pivotal role and are essential partners in the UAE’s comprehensive development journey. They enjoy full empowerment and unlimited support from the country’s wise leadership, which has firmly established the principle of equal opportunities across all sectors.
One of the most inspiring experiences that remains deeply etched in her memory was being unfairly dismissed from an organization where she had worked. She went through a difficult period as she dealt with the disappointment of leaving an institution to which she had been deeply committed and had given so much. She experienced the feeling of seeing her ambitions collapse before her, along with the frustration of feeling that the laws had not provided her with justice and other circumstances that affected her psychologically and physically. However, through determination and the belief that this was not the end, she came to realize that what happened was actually for the best. It became a new beginning—a chance to rediscover herself, identify her strengths, develop them further, and open the door to a new professional path.
The people who have had the greatest impact on her success have always included the men in her life, beginning with her father, who would always say: “I did not have the opportunity to learn, but I want you, my children, to become better than I was.” Her husband also played a significant role by supporting her decision to continue her education. He took on both parental roles to help her balance the different responsibilities in her life. Her managers at work also supported her through direct guidance, training, and opportunities for professional growth.
Her ambition, passion for continuous learning, dedication to her work, ability to overcome challenges, and belief in her own ability to achieve have been the fundamental driving forces throughout both her professional and personal journey.
Her message to girls and young women on Emirati Women’s Day is that nothing is impossible when accompanied by hard work, investment in one’s ambitions, and pride in national identity. She emphasizes the importance of giving back to this nation, each person from their own position and field, and of always keeping the name and reputation of the UAE in mind in every step, action, and decision.
Among her future plans is pursuing a PhD in Organizational Leadership and completing the training programme she is currently undertaking in real estate brokerage through the Department of Government Empowerment in Abu Dhabi. She sees real estate brokerage as a field of the future, one that will help her distinguish herself in a sector with relatively limited Emirati representation and aligns with the UAE’s national priorities. It will also support her ambition to establish her own business, become less dependent on traditional employment, and enter a new phase focused on building wealth. On a personal level, she aspires to continue raising her children while preserving their connection to their faith and national identity amid the cultural diversity and challenges of today’s world.
On Emirati Women’s Day, she extends her deepest gratitude first and foremost to Emirati women themselves, in recognition of their tremendous role as mothers, educators, and partners in the nation’s development and progress. She also expresses her appreciation to the Mother of the Emirates, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, for her continuous support and empowerment of Emirati women, as well as to the UAE’s wise leadership for believing in women’s roles and capabilities.
The slogan “We Will Emerge Stronger and Better” inspires her to continuously pursue self-development on a personal level, recognize the importance of building a strong family and being a positive role model for its members, continue learning and acquiring new professional experiences, and, on a national level, give her very best in service of the UAE and its advancement.
Her message to every woman who aspires to become one of the strongest and best women in her country, community, and family is to always remember that her true strength comes from believing in her own abilities and recognizing the qualities that distinguish her from others. She encourages women to understand their strengths, work on developing their weaknesses, build self-confidence, and prioritize both physical and mental well-being.
Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Sheikhs and leaders, represents an exemplary model of the Emirati woman who supports and stands alongside men. She is the wife and partner of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father and leader of the Union, and played a pivotal role in empowering women alongside men. She is also a role model in humanitarian work, with her dedication to education initiatives and numerous other efforts that have strengthened the status of women locally, regionally, and internationally. She has truly earned the title Mother of the Emirates. May Allah protect her, grant her a long life, and guide her steps.
