A Professional Journey of More Than 12 Years in Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy
I am Huda Alblooki, Rehabilitation Medicine Programs Director, and I am proud to have built my professional career in rehabilitation and physiotherapy over more than 12 years. For me, this journey has been much more than a professional career; it has been a journey of growth, development, and leadership. I started in the field, working directly with patients and understanding their needs. Over the years, I moved into leadership roles and took on greater responsibilities. Today, I directly lead a team of approximately 60 therapists and rehabilitation specialists across multiple areas, including sports injuries and spinal conditions. I believe that the most important thing I have built throughout this journey is not only a large team, but also a culture, a leadership spirit, and a clear approach based on my belief that rehabilitation services should be of high quality, easily accessible, and deliver clear outcomes that create a real impact on patients’ lives.
A Passion Inspired by the Impact of Rehabilitation on People’s Lives
What attracted me to rehabilitation from the beginning was how tangible its impact is. You are not simply providing treatment to a patient; you are helping them regain a part of their life. The patient may be an athlete who wants to return to the field, or someone living with a spinal injury who wants to regain their independence and mobility. When you witness that transformation, you truly understand the value of rehabilitation. Over the years, my passion evolved from wanting to excel in delivering the service to wanting to become part of developing it. I came to believe that rehabilitation services exist, but the real challenge is asking how we can make them easier to access, how we can raise their quality, and how we can ensure that their outcomes are clear and measurable. This is the area where I want to leave my mark.
Leadership Became the Most Significant Turning Point in My Career
The most important turning point in my career came when leadership became an essential part of my journey, and my responsibility was no longer limited to my individual performance, but extended to the performance of an entire team and the quality of the service we provide. Leading approximately 60 specialists directly taught me that leadership is not about the number of people a leader manages; it is about the ability to build a team that believes in the same vision and is capable of achieving meaningful results. I am proud that I have been able to build this team around a strong and clear leadership approach, while developing a work culture focused on excellence, collaboration, and placing the patient at the center. To me, true leadership success is seeing your impact multiply through the people you lead.
Challenges Shaped My Leadership and Strengthened My Convictions
One of the greatest challenges in leadership is maintaining your vision and convictions while dealing with different personalities, expectations, and everyday challenges. I learned that strong leadership does not mean being the loudest person in the room; it means having a clear vision, making thoughtful decisions, and being willing to take responsibility. I have always believed that I do not need to be perfect, but I need to be consistent, clear, and willing to learn from every experience. Every challenge I have faced has contributed to shaping the leader I am today and has made me even more determined to develop rehabilitation services and raise their quality and outcomes.
The Emirati Woman Is Capable of Leading and Creating Meaningful Impact
I believe that Emirati women today do not need to prove that they are capable of leadership; the environment created by the UAE has already demonstrated that. However, our responsibility as a generation of Emirati women is to make greater use of these opportunities and not simply focus on reaching positions, but on creating meaningful impact through them. For me, leadership means taking responsibility for developing a field, building people, and opening the way for new generations of leaders. I aspire to be an example to an Emirati girl who believes she can choose a highly specialized field, develop deep expertise in it, reach leadership positions, and contribute to its development on a broader level.
Seeing a Patient Return to Life Is the True Meaning of Rehabilitation
One of the things that affects me most is witnessing a patient return to their life. When you see someone who once depended on others begin to regain their independence, or an athlete return to the sport they love, you feel that all the effort you and your team have invested has real meaning. That is when I realized that my role as a leader is greater than simply managing a team. My role is to build a team capable of consistently creating these outcomes for patients and to work on developing services that make the patient journey better, easier, and of higher quality. To me, this is the true value of rehabilitation.
Success Is a Journey Built on Belief in Growth and Responsibility
Success, to me, is the result of an entire journey: my family, the people who believed in my abilities, the leaders I learned from, and the teams I worked with. But there has always been one essential factor: my belief that I can learn, develop, and take on greater responsibility. I believe that a leader is not defined by a position; a leader is shaped by the situations, decisions, and responsibilities they take on, as well as by the people they succeed in developing around them.
My Message to Girls: Never Put a Limit on Your Ambition
Do not put a ceiling on your ambition. Start from where you are, master your field, continue learning, and take responsibility when an opportunity comes your way, even if it is greater than what you are accustomed to. Do not be afraid of leadership. Leadership is not about being stronger than others; it is about being strong enough to carry responsibility, clear enough to lead, and generous enough to create leaders around you. To every Emirati girl, I say: do not be afraid to be ambitious. Your country has given you a great space to grow, so do not be afraid to fill that space with even greater ambition.
An Ambition That Goes Beyond Managing a Team to Developing the Rehabilitation Sector
My ambition goes beyond managing a team or a particular service. I aspire to be part of developing rehabilitation services on a broader level and to contribute to building more specialized, higher-quality rehabilitation programs that are easier for patients to access and whose outcomes are clear and based on best practices. I want to see rehabilitation take its rightful place as an essential part of the healthcare journey, rather than a service that comes at the end of that journey. My leadership ambition is to take on greater responsibilities and have a broader influence on the development of this sector. I aspire to reach higher levels of leadership because I believe I still have so much to offer, and there are greater stages ahead that I want to reach.
Reaching the Top Is Not the End; It Is the Beginning of True Responsibility
On Emirati Women’s Day, I feel proud to be part of a generation that grew up in a country that never placed a ceiling on women’s ambitions. I thank our wise leadership for believing in and empowering Emirati women, and I thank every person who has been part of my journey. But the most important message I want to share is this: reaching a position is not the end. When a woman reaches a leadership position, her true responsibility begins: to develop the place she has reached, lift those around her, and leave an impact that continues after her. My ambition is to always be in a position where I can develop, lead, and leave a greater impact.
Rehabilitation Medicine.. A Service That Helps People Return to Their Lives
I believe that talking about rehabilitation is extremely important because many people understand treatment, but may not fully recognize the role rehabilitation programs play in helping people return to their lives. Rehabilitation services exist, but my goal goes beyond simply having the service available. My ambition is for these services to be more accessible, higher in quality, and for their results and outcomes to be clear to both patients and society. I believe the UAE has the capabilities and expertise to become a leading model in rehabilitation, and I aspire to be part of this journey, not only as a team leader, but as a leader who contributes to developing the field itself.
“We Will Show the Strongest and the Best”.. Huda Alblooki’s Vision for Emirati Women
“We Will Show the Strongest and the Best” Is a Way of Life, Not Just a Slogan
“We Will Show the Strongest and the Best” is not simply a slogan to me; it is a way of life. Personally, it means continuing to develop myself and never being satisfied with what I have already achieved. Professionally, it means becoming a better leader, building a stronger team, and giving my best in the field of rehabilitation. As a mother, it means being a role model for my daughters and allowing them to see an ambitious Emirati woman who leads, learns, and takes responsibility. Nationally, it means using my experience and position to contribute to the journey of a country that has given Emirati women all these opportunities. To me, strength is not about a position; it is about the impact you leave behind.
The Strongest and the Best Are Those Who Face Challenges and Build Others Up
Do not wait for someone to tell you that you are ready. Sometimes an opportunity comes before you feel prepared for it, and that is where the real journey of growth begins. Be ambitious, take responsibility, and do not be afraid to have a different vision. Most importantly, when you reach a position where you can make an impact, do not make your success individual; make it a doorway to the success of others. The strongest and the best woman is not one who never faces challenges, but one who faces them, emerges stronger, and then uses her strength to build those around her.
“Mother of the Emirates”.. A Journey That Made Women’s Empowerment a Mission
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Emirates,” represents to me the image of a woman who did not simply seek success, but made women’s empowerment a mission and a journey. As an Emirati woman, I feel that a significant part of the confidence and ambition we have today comes from a national environment that believed in women and gave them the opportunity to learn, work, and lead. My message to Her Highness is: thank you for contributing to building a generation of Emirati women who are not afraid of ambition and who do not see leadership as something beyond their reach. What we achieve today is an extension of this journey, and our responsibility is to continue it and open the way for those who come after us.
Strength Is a Continuous Journey of Learning, Growth, and Giving
I believe that the slogan “We Will Show the Strongest and the Best” carries a beautiful message for Emirati women: strength is not a destination we reach, but a continuous journey of learning, growth, and giving. I believe every woman can be “the strongest and the best” in her own way, whether she is at home, at work, in a leadership position, or in any field she has chosen for herself. For me, I will continue working to become stronger and better as a leader, to build stronger teams, to contribute to the development of rehabilitation, and to create a greater impact in the future.
